I don’t quite get it. Jon Jones says he’d vacate the heavyweight title and then fight Pereira. Pereira is the first fighter with the chance to win titles in three weight classes. So why would he fight Jones if Jones no longer holds the title? Of course, beating Jones would be a huge achievement, but being the first to win titles in three divisions would be a legendary accomplishment.

I re-watched the 1st Stipe vs Francis fight and its a massive difference. In that fight Stipe was light on his feet, alert and elusive and punishing Ngannou's mistakes with counters at an amazing speed for a heavyweight. He went from that to the grumpy old man from the animated movie "Up"😑

No you most definitely do not have to say that Jon fought well last week, he looked average at best. He was old and slow and got tired after 1 round. This is what always happens with fighters who are over the hill, people are just unable to see it until they start losing. Yet if you look back at almost every fighter as they got old, you can see the signs of them being done long before that, the audience just can't see it for some reason. Jon is 100% done as a serious contender, now he just has to give up the belt or lose to Tom.

I'm not MAGA or American, but politics isn't going to stop me watching MMA (could put me off attending fights, due to safety and not wanting to be around obnoxious casual fans), because I got into the sport due to loving the technical and psychological side of the sport itself. I don't like ring girls either (I watch for the fighters), but I just ignore them. I just laugh at or find interesting the Trump stuff - it is what it is. But I can see how casuals or people who got into it for pure entertainment would get more easily turned away, and casuals are where the money is. For me it has to be way more extreme to stop watching the sport, like to the level where it would also be a barrier to enjoyably or safely training MMA. I think one downside of the UFC monopsony is how much power they and the US has over the culture of the sport. The sport's image and culture would be quite different if it was centred in France, Japan, China, Thailand, Russia or even the UK.

Sometimes I'll be watching the fights and I'll tune out the commentary. I wouldn't go to a live event but it's not bc of what politicians are sitting cageside, I wouldn't be able to go to a small regional promotion. I have PTSD and can't stand to be around crowds. Yeah they wouldn't be able to take over all the small promotions if they were headquartered in any of those countries. I'm glad that they haven't been taking over the smaller promotions here in the US. It’s funny, I was watching last week’s card when I received a text from a friend (a life long boxing fan turned hardcore MMA fan over the last 10 or so years) saying he was over the UFC. The overtly political stuff being shoehorned into every aspect of the coverage (from commentary, constant cutting to political figures more interested in their phones, or even not interviewing a main card winner to show Trump) broke him. This is a person who isn’t American and has bought every PPV for the last few years but he is done with it, he said it felt like he was paying $60 for a political advertisement. Now, I’m a lefty whose been watching the sport for more that 2 decades (plus boxing even longer) so combat sports have me but coverage like last week jingoistic (Riyadh Season like) overload was a hard watch. Thankfully I’ve still got regional MMA and promotions like ONE, KSW, Rizin etc. where it is about the fights and not about the political whims of the organisation running it. . . People are trippin. Jon is going to fight Tom. I’d bet anything on it, Jon is incredibly intelligent (albeit immature at times) look at how much hype he has drummed up for a Tom fight? If he just said “we’ll talk to ufc and see what’s next” or “Tom is next” this fight wouldn’t have 10% of the shine it is getting now. And everyone is acting like it is a foregone conclusion that Tom will win the fight, but I really believe Jon gets it done. He has a 7 inch reach advantage and Tom’s defense has some holes and Jon has the best defense we’ve ever seen. Just by nature of Tom’s build and Jon’s length, defense and experience I could definitely see Jon staying safe enough on the outside for the first couple of rounds and then try to grind Tom out in a close decision. The fanbase of every sport would cheer for Trump. I think it was the Eagles that booed Jill Biden out the building. That wouldn't happen with Trump. Same with the rest. Most sports fans are right wing. The UFC is the only one that leans into it because Trump isn't a fan of the other sports. Sports are consumed predominately by men. I'm not a Republican but I don't get Lukes obvious visceral hatred of the most pro American President in the last 30 years. There's no racial reason, in terms of men (the vast majority of UFC viewers), 54% of Hispanics, 59% of Caucasians, 37% of African Americans, 91% of East Asians , 43% of South Asians all voted Trump. Surely you guys can see Politics is no longer split down racial lines. If anything it's down gender lines. As a white male, I totally agree with @albertgarcia9273 and say that u would welcome. Of course, as with any fan base I'm sure that there would be that one asshole that doesn't like certain ethnicities. I'm sure that that one asshole wouldn't welcome me, but I'm sure that 99.5% of the fan base doesn't care about your ethnicity/nationality. The only color that should matter is red, bc we all bleed red. Unfortunately in the past 15-20 years the media has been hellbent on trying to say that everyone in the country (US) is racist, they have been saying that a white saying that they have black friends is racist. My personal philosophy is that I can be friends with anyone and if I have a problem with someone it doesn't have anything to do with the skin color, it's bc of something that they've said or done to me personally. But I'm not naive and I realize that there's ppl in this world that have the complete opposite view than me. Sorry for the long reply, it's a lot just to say u would be more than welcome as a fan.

Aspinall is much more well-rounded than Gane and hits very hard even for HW. And Gane actually isn't younger, he's 3yrs older. He probably is more nimble than Aspinall but I think's Aspinall's hands are much faster and crisper
