I have learned and now am mastering diaphragmatic breathing for the purpose of classical singing. Having integrated that, like 95% of my voice problems dissappeared (Jaw tension, tounge tension, straining, vocal fold fatigue just to name a few). They were all just symptoms of insuficcient air flow and insuficcient subglottal pressure, only diaphragmatic breathing suffices to excercise those properly. Thanks a lot for your further elaborations! What was the cause for being unable to breathe properly: Since there was too much belly fat, the body felt uncomfortable when letting go of the abs. There was always a tension in the belly, which caged in the diaphragm. Solution: 1. Losing the superfluous belly fat. 2. Being okay with the belly coming out while breathing in. It is a hidden and very private thing. But I am certain, that exactly this is an issue for the majority of people. Additional tip: For the inbreath, utilise gravity. IF there is a proper posture while sitting or standing, simply let go of all belly muscles, relax them completely. Gravity alone suffices to pull your organs forward down, which causes the diaphragm to contract -> inbreath. The opposite is the case while lying on the back.

This is great health knowledge brother. I wanted to ask: do you know Wim Hof? If so I wanted to know what you think of his breathing exercise. I’ve tried it lol it’s crazy but man...nothing else leaves the body feeling like it does after I do several rounds of that exercise, I held my breath for like 4 min. Lol. He says that the exercise turns your own body into a form of a hyperbolic chamber and I think I already experienced why. So many people I believe don’t realize how important this knowledge is concerning breathing.

A basic scheme: - Your are in a daily stress situation - Your brain sees that situation and interprets it as a threat to you (since it's stressful) - The brain sends a signal to the adrenal glands saying: "PUTS EPINEPHRINE IN THE BLOOD RIGHT NOW!! IT'S A THREAT!" Basically the epinephrine raises our heart beats and why it's important? With your heart pumping blood faster, you can use your muscles more efficiently. AND for support your faster heart beat you need to hyper ventilate your lungs, consuming more O2. Experiment this: Make some heavy chest breathing and notice that your heart beats'll increase. + O2 Then, make this video diaphragmatic breathing and see your heart chills...- O2 It's all connected!
@Theironmaiden7717 жыл бұрын
Paulo Vitor Suriani so, When you take longer inhale it will increase O2 in your blood cells and raised your heart beat but if you exhale longer than inhale will decreaseO2 and leave more CO2 and slow your heart beat?

I had this problem. My breathing was off. I was chest breathing from fight/ flight response. Do deep belly breathing. It’ll take pressure off your chest, neck, and head.

Well I am a marathon runner I had tried it , you don’t have to believe in anything he is saying but just do the practice of diaphragmatic breathing you would realize it , it is a great exercise and it makes you just feel like law of gravitation does not work on you ,

Actually, with this exercise your CO2 levels will increase (because you'll hold your breath for about 20 secs) and that's why the epinephrine levels goes down. You can see it in airplanes, that panic mask is nothing more than CO2. And even why when a panic attack starts, you can handle with a paper bag (breathing into it). (continues...) It's physiology, epinephrine activates the fight/flight mode and raise cortisol levels, the objective is increase your hearth beats, HYPER VENTILATE your lungs and that's why high O2 levels is used for these cases, to prepare your muscles to fight or run away. It's a natural defense in a wild planet earth, long long time ago. Today, with all the pressure in modern human life: work, study, lack of sleep, lot$ of preoccupation$, we've lost our link with nature and became fragile and easy scary beings... suffering from over useless epinephrine in our daily life.
@Prodigy3966 жыл бұрын
So I shouldn’t do this exercise?
@LemonadeMe886 жыл бұрын
Prodigy 117: each exercise has its own type of benefits.. I saw a guy, Wim Hof, who did some experiments himself basically using breath control Jonathan: thanks bro! apparently epinephrine is now most popular on scientific journals.. I've learned that studying physiology.. although it is still that adrenaline

I agree deep breathing is important, but I'm just curious because I am in a physiology course right now and apparently 'deep breathing' does NOT affect the O2 level in our blood? Some science here would be awesome! thanks! I AGREE that deep breathing interrupts the fight/flight mode and keeps our Nervous System in check, but I do not believe in a scientific sense it has anything to do with changing the O2 levels in our blood. THANK YOU!

Apart from bhastrika all other pranayam should be done by expanding only lungs which means taking in oxygen only in lungs and not from belly
