The first thing my Taiwanese friends took me to was shrimp fishing I was rather confused as fishing to me back home is something elderly men do, and we were all students... But it was actually really fun and relaxing in the summer (it was a kind of roofed pool with BBQ's/tables and not totally indoors) Like most places is probably varies where you go I guess, sucks you guys didn't catch so many!

Ah that sounds awesome was that in Taipei? It really is a lot of fun surprisingly. Its one of the best ways to just chill out and pass some time here in Taiwan. Im glad you enjoyed it!

The price is based on the contents, I think maybe u got the rip off. some they even have lobster, but it's a big challenge for the newbie. I believe the reasonable price should be around 300 at the first hour and 200/hr from the second hour in Chiayi. U need to hide the hook by the little shrimp body which they provide, sometime u need to buy it. Sorry for my English level😅 hope u can understand what I want to explain.
@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын
Yes I understand! thanks for clearing that up:) I would love to try to fish lobster!

@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын
Hey Umberto! Sorry I should have specified its about 20$ Canadian or 500 NTD an hour but prices drop the longer you stay, check out our blog post for the full details.
@ChuHsiangLin7 жыл бұрын
Luke Martin Where are the shrimp fishing you wnet to ? 500 NTD an hour ? That's freaking expensive....... In southern Taiwan , the first hour cost 150 NTD(5 US dollar) , then every 100 NTD(3 US dollar) after second hour

+Chu-Hsiang Lin hey! It was in Taipei at one of the more popular places I've fished here in Chiayi for much cheaper prices! Thanks for the heads up!:)

Hey I guess I was wrong about that. Considering it started in the 90s thats still fairly new wouldn't you say!? thanks for watching :)
This is such a funny activity isn't it! We did the same thing when we were in Taipei. After an hour we'd only managed one shrimp haha. The guy working there felt so bad for us he gave us a handful of shrimp so we'd actually have something to cook. Score! Thanks for the great vid. Cheers, Thomas.
@LukeMartin7 жыл бұрын
hahaha it is quite strange! And actually the exact same thing happened my first time! made me feel pretty useless but at least I had some shrimp to eat haha!
@amigo41917 жыл бұрын
The price should be 600NT for 3 hours. The price also depends on the pool you are fishing in:male or female shrimp. The pool looks cloudy because they don't want the customer see how many shrimp is inside the pool. I also recommend you just use the body of baby shrimp for the bait. Maybe you can ask the people beside you next time, a majority of taiwaness people will gladly teach you. There have many little techniques that can allow you to catch more shrimp. You can send me a message if you want to go shrimp fishing next time. I can teach you. I love this video, thank you for you introduction of Taiwan shrimp fishing.

The guy who "released" prawns into the pond - is dishonest. He just threw the crate into the water and quickly tilted it. You never know how many prawn he released. It could be only 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 ... etc.

Indoor shrimp fishing has been in Taiwan for decades. The pool seems not clean because owners put dirt in it on purpose, to make you unable to track a shrimp with your eyes.
@ImpetuousPorkus7 жыл бұрын
Theres something horribly ironic about baiting shrimp by using baby shrimp lol. I guess they have some cannibalistic tendencies?

hi, i am not rally sure about this, but i heard that the water is muddy for shrimps to live longer and is easier for people to catch them. btw you could choose pool color that are more clear or brownish, since you are eating them instead of gambling. blue or green color pool seems to have antibiotic in it. :)
