For real for real! I love watching both of them so much. There was a long while that I was really disillusioned with Christianity, really disappointed with a lot of Christian leaders in general. But honestly seeing Luke and Ben, just two down to earth Christians who are just kind human beings, it renewed my hope in humanity and Christianity. I guess it was just a long time since I saw Christians that I respected. Both Luke and Ben don't make a super big deal of it, neither of them are preachy, but they both openly share that they are believers. I'm sincerely thankful to just see them share their daily lives

Luke, this type of algae that can be rubbed off is diatom algae that always happens in a new setup. It shouldn't harm the plants too much, but if there is hair algae or black beard algae you have too much light or a nutrient imbalance.

I had 2 black common goldfish and they both turned 100% gold in 2 years. They're 5 years old now and the only difference is how deep the orange is. It's crazy how much theor colors change over time. A stripe or goofy spot that's on your fish when you buy it may not be there a year later.

Maybe get a smart timer for a few things. It’s made my life much easier! I’ve got some lights on old school timers because I don’t change them but have pumps ,canister filters on smart. So I can can control them from a different room. Thanks for taking us along your journey 😊

For the algae on the plants in the planted tank, you maybe can get a Siamese algae eater. They eat algae and don’t attack fish often. Just a recommendation.

There's a tropical fish that can clean the algae off the plants, the Otocinclus Catfish is good for detailed algae cleaning. You keep your tanks so warm and water quality so high, i think you can just toss them into the tanks with plants

I used to have otos! The problem with them for goldfish though is that the goldfish will constantly harass the otocinclus and the oto actually adds a little bioload into the aquarium which does add to the algae problem. Overall I found the oto to be good at getting forgotten or stuck on algae but if you are having a problem with algae then otos are definitely not the solution they'll become part of the problem

Luke himself is happy to scrape the algae off the glass, so that's not a problem. In the video his plants have algae on them, and I think the easiest solution is otos

@@izzyxblades yeah, I used to do a bleach dip if I had a large problem with algae but after that I kept my parameters, even KH and GH to an absolute T, I used to use both root tabs and liquid fertilizer. That paired with many adjustments with light I met a perfect balance of healthy flourishing plants with no algae in sight. It kept like that only using minor adjustments for 5 years until I dismantled the tank.

1:12 Ive had that happen just last week. Plugged a pump into a power strip, not realizing I had a hose attached to the outflow of said pump until then the water poured over me and into the power strip I was holding. GFCI tripped and saved me.

about the algae on the plants. You got too much light, either add duckweed to make shade, or turn down the light. Also tho: Snails and shrimp or Plecos would be great helps keeping that under control. Been watching MD Fish Tanks, and he specializes in planted tanks.

just a suggestion, maybe you get a co2 test kit just to be sure if the bubbles are actually co2. also maybe a take a ph reading as soon as you pump the water in and another about the time you believe that the co2 is gone. the ph from first reading should be lower and higher on the second that is if its co2. But for more accurate results a test kit would defnitely prove whether you need to be stocking water the way you are. It just seems like a lot of work you have to do.

Get water detector alarms? MD fish tanks uses them when he is filling his tanks. He sticks them on the side of the tank to the hight he wants it filled too and then goes and does something else instead of waiting, then he hears the alarm and goes and turns off the water
