It looks cool but for some reason Luke does everything to shit on this game. Like in previous video he was bashing this game for AI ignoring a player during stealth segment. But had no problem with this AI in Cyberpunk and he was complaining about shitty stealth missions in latest Star wars game because if you was spotted for a frame mission was failed. Many top notch stealth games also have mechanic like "invisibility frames" to not make player mad that he failed because he was clumsy. Also even Hitman and Spliter Cell have situations when player should be heard by the AI but the game ignores it for some reason. Also he was criticizing almost every animation and how colorful game is looking. This is top notch scepticism "There is something off". Then he said that's something is off because "puzzles are not great in modern games". Man you have not a single real puzzle here just fractions of these puzzles showing interactivity. He was grasping for straws to find something to complain. Or that there is a "pause" between actions. Well if you only play fps games then sure in the adventure game you will feel less action in-between fight phases because AI is different. In this game it should be slower to resemble a movie not a FPS game with constant movement. Just look how he had to say that his gun is his best tool not the mind just to take a jab at the presentation

The one problem I have with people’s first impressions of this game is that it doesn’t sound like, “authentic,” Indiana Jones stuff. Raiders of The Lost Ark and its sequels BURST onto our screens and changed the face of pop culture in the same way that Star Wars did, with constant ACTION. Explosions, high falls, traps, running, jumping, shooting and so on, were what made the movies such a thrill. I just hope it’s not mainly skulking about in stealth mode? Some stealth, sure. Puzzle solving, absolutely. But most of all, the, “treasures,” are always the McGuffin and not important other than being the reason people are chasing Indie or he’s chasing them. There’s ONE treasure in each movie that unlocks the Deus Ex Machina at the end of the stories. But, if you’re just in the shadows, sneaking around, like some 1930’s prototype for Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher, that would be a huge disappointment. It needs to have at least as much action as the Uncharted games. Even if they don’t have the budget for that scale, they have the resources and (one would hope?) the imagination to put enough action in there to make you, “feel,” like Indie. Using the gun occasionally, but not being, “locked out,” or otherwise prevented from using it. Using the whip is essential. Finding creative ways to solve puzzles is not more important than finding equally creative ways to knock off the bad guys. And you need multiple locations to do all of that in. If you can do things your own way, have a choice between sneaking and guns blazing (except for just a few missions) and have CHOICES about how to get results, then I’ll be glad. It just feels too much like a stealth game from what I’ve seen. And Indie is not a stealth hero. I love Splinter Cell, but Indie is NOT Sam Fisher. He’s an, “action,” hero first and foremost.

Facial animations look pretty good but there's just something overall... old-ish feeling. But if it looks like an original trilogy game and that's what people want - awesome! We all have different tastes, but if the game speaks to the fans they intended, again, awesome!
@PopsiCOLE10 күн бұрын
@@firstpersonlooter Yeah, the oldish feeling is because it has an '80s feeling to it. The movies came out in the '80s. The action, The fights, The punches were all 80'sfied. So this game has that same feeling which makes it seem dated. I'm sure that's what it is.
@firstpersonlooter10 күн бұрын
@@PopsiCOLE It’s not so much the fighting animations. When I talked about NPC’s sliding into place I was referring to things like 25:10 when the player sneaks behind the NPC and the NPC literally just slides forward a foot. Like a statue. I assume it was to make room for the take down animation but it was still a glaring distraction for me. On top of the fact that the NPC looks like a statue while approaching too - no idle animations. No swaying or mumbling to himself, scratching an itch, checking his weapon, moving weight from one leg to another, etc. Just… a statue. At 25:11 the baton in the NPC’s hand flips around all crazy like it’s bugging out. Same with 25:35, that NPC looks frozen. 25:53 fistfight looks fine though! I like it! I’m not here to bash the game, I’m absolutely going to play it. I don’t mean to go on and on about the things I didn’t like - just explaining it better since it seems that part was a bit misunderstood.

@firstpersonlooter Yeah that's what the enemies did in the movies. Lol.

I think the VR look is intentional, I think the plan is to release a VR version after this one has grabbed the attention of fans. Or it was VR originally, but then they realised it wasn't really working, or that VR is just not covering a wide enough audience. I think that delay in the fighting, when he resets feels like a left over VR design.

There is a piece of me that kinda wishes this was 3rd person, but just because I kinda want to see Indy more. I remember Riddick taking me by surprise and blowing me away. I’m hoping this game is the same!
@Vigsol12 күн бұрын
The fp view to me creates a dissonance. They put so much effort to make sure harrison ford stays indianna jones but then the 1st person makes it looks like an indianna jones simulator rather than a adventure game. Dunno if that makes sense to anyone else. Seeing the 3rd person view in swinging looks way better. Idk we don't see the movies from 1st person I just don't get it. Also items jump from his hands when he puts them down, that doesn't play so well in first person.

stargate sg1 also made archeology feel cool, maybe not as cool as indy in the beginning as it was a TV show but the show had a lot of nuanced archeology aspects to it that made if kind of fun. in the show Daniel Jackson is that archeologist, but he's an expert in ancient cultures and knows the history of these cultures and has to use his knowledge to figure out puzzles that were left behind by these ancient cultures in order to understand how to accomplish his goals. some cultures on other planets were closely related to some of the earth cultures so he had to sort of cross reference stuff in order to understand meanings of things and figure out puzzles, it was a great show. in later seasons of the show he holds a gun, not a whip, but there have been some episodes where he was more badass, but it always amazed me how that character grew to become something more in later seasons, but that show as a whole was transformative for all the character's stories.

Same problem as every other first person action game - depth perception. Am I far enough from the previous swinging axe trap and not too close to the next swinging axe trap? I can't tell as a floating camera.

about the puzzles in veilguard - the companions only spoil the easy ones that are directly on the path for quest progression. After playing through the whole game I don't think I heard them spoil even one of the loot/secret area puzzles which were for the most part more difficult than the really simple/boring blight boils and elven power crystals. God of War on the other hand, Atreus doesn't care, he will spoil literally any puzzle in front of him.

The reason it feels like a vr game is because we are seeing both hands in the frame. One doesn’t have a gun. So we get this “look! You can see both your hands!” “Vr look” that’s rarely seen in FPS games.
@ashroskell12 күн бұрын
Wow! That actually had a Star Wars feel to the big, “reveal,” there. “He has a brother . . .” hung in the air like dying Yoda’s mention of a, “sisterrrrrr . . .” or Darth’s big, “I AM YOUR FATHER,” bit. Liked that.

Sadly I think is only going to appeal to mostly us old school Indiana Jones fans that grew up with the original trilogy. We know what we are getting. Indy isn't some big tough action hero. He's very grounded and human. But we are also very cautious because we were burned by the last two movies. Especially Dial of Destiny. I know its an unpopular opinion but as I have gotten older i have come to enjoy Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I still dont care for the last 30 minutes or so with the aliens and Shia swinging with the monkeys but the film gave closure to Indy and thats where it should have ended. But i hope this game gives us that classic Raiders feel and adventure. I love Indiana Jones so i would love to see a trilogy of these games as long as there is a good story to tell and an audience for it.

Im really looking forward to this been hyped for it all year. Still dont get the whole 1st/3rd person stuff. If it went 3rd person people would compare it to Tomb Raider and Uncharted even though we've had 3 3rd person Indiana Jones games in the past and also why is it nowadays people are randomly getting motion sickness from 1st person, i can understand it if it was in VR but these days people get it from standard 1st person

Im betting a dollar it will be in the vein of Hitman - your dropped into a zone, clear it out and proceeds to the next one. Previous previews have talked about the combat being a bit iffy and the stealth being...complicated. Will have to see actual playthroughs before purchase.
