Hi im.deano from skelmersdale lancashire. My god i couldn't belive when i heard you say ripping it out. All that time effort & money you put into it. But on the other hand that Road trip with your family was the ultimate practice test to how a mobile living accommodation works and things you needed to of put in. Well my friend you got your media fan base here all watching you again wishing you luck at the 2nd Refurbishment lol . Raised bed and a proper chemical toilet is essential. And be interesting to see what other treats you install. Glad you kept the van . Wish you well now get building . :)

Been watching your great videos and wondered why you didnt have the bed above the garage.
@LukesVanLife6 жыл бұрын
B Roll Blues. It makes sense to have bed above garage so thats what i have now built. See videos after this one :) thank you for watching . Luke
@waywed7 жыл бұрын
Welcome back! We were all getting a bit worried. What a task you have taken on but the bed over garage is quite a common approach and seems to be more efficient. Good luck!

Good luck on your new project! Before starting the work I'd go to a weighing station just to find out how many kilos the empty van has for real and see how much the conversion adds once it's finished.
@moviemonster98297 жыл бұрын
No way , I built my van at the same time as you so loved watching your progress. But i could never contemplate ripping it out and starting again especially as the cold weather's on it's way. You must be really unhappy with your final result , where as i built mine to how i wanted it based on 2 van conversions on here. Myself I'd have sold your van and start a fresh given that you were a bit unsure with the reliability over the summer. Good luck Luke looking forward to watching your re-fit.
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Moviemonster. Hi, i was fairly un happy with the result, i was building it in a rush to get ready for my holiday and even when building it i knew i wanted to do another build a different way. I now have learnt a lot about building campers and my experience should hopefully help me to build one im happy with. Thank you for watching

Hi Luke its deano from skelmersdale lancashire again. Thanks for writing back to me. I know your doing your van between working each day but when is your next updates my friend. Whats the costing of the build mate. Are you a window cleaner? As i seen a pole lent against your back door and you said you maid a place to slide ladders under the floor. Its Saturday 14th October. Is possible to connect with you on messanger?.
@LukesVanLife6 жыл бұрын
Dean Kew. Hey dude, yes i was a window cleaner for 15 years. Not anymore thou. I am on messenger if i wanted to contact?
@kwieca19617 жыл бұрын
novel idea Luke, are you doing a different build every year? , good luck mate. I know how much hard work and long hours it involves. I agree with Raife Edwoods you will know what works for you this time. looking forward to seeing the progress.
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Anthony Kwiecinski. I really enjoyed building my camper so i plan to be converting vans for the rest of my life and hopefully they will get better with experience. Thank you for watching
@kwieca19617 жыл бұрын
And why not? The satisfaction is enormous when building them. I wish you well, it's what I do too. Watch it doesn't take over your life though. The first build you start tends to be evenings and weekends as you have to work in the day. And easy to get into rut working long hours and it can get at you. If its going to be your job, discipline yourself to regular hours mate. Go for it. If you any need advice Luke feel free to give me a shout out. Got over 40 yrs carpentry experience.

I am thinking about buying a similar van to yours, could you tell me what's its like to drive and how thirsty it is?
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Bob Jackson. Hi Bob. These vans are really easy to drive. If you get the long wheel base like mine their are a couple of things to know. Always take really wide turns and because these vans have a huge overhang behind the rear wheels. When you turn the back end will swing either over the kerb or into the lane next to yours. I learnt this the hard way, pulled away from a kerb and the back end swung over the kerb and clipped a post box. Other than those points, really nice to drive and mine does about 30 mpg. Thank you for watching.

New to your channel, just subscribed. I am in the process of buying and Iveco Daily 115bhp. I know you have an Iveco wondered what bhp you have and if it manages climbing hills etc., Take care in what is our crazy world at the minute, Norma from Newcastle xx
@LukesVanLife4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I've never known the bhp in my van, I know that it's slow as heck on hills though :) I may get it remapped at some point :)

@@LukesVanLife Thank you so much for getting back to me. I didn't know there was such a thing as re-mapping, I am going to look into this asap x

Mate your mad throwing all that suff away,you never know when you need bits of wood for you're next build
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
John Easton. Hi john. I agree with you its a waste and i would love to keep it all but i live in a flat and have nowhere to keep it all. Ive kept as much wood as i can to recycle into the next build. My van is now full again. I have to move it all out to work on the van then put it all back when im done. Its not fun haha. Thank you for watching. Luke

Hey man, looks like you're planning a layout similar to mine! If you need a brain to pick at all give me a shout ;)
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Ash! Hey man. Im subscribed to your channel! I love your van! And so jealous of the trip that your on atm. Yes it will be a similar build to your van. I think its the best use of space for vans if u dont want to be messing around building the bed every night :) thank you for the offer. Yes i would love to pick your brains. I already have about 5 questions off the top of my head :)
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Hey ash, Two questions for now :) do you get mould under your mattress or do you have it vented? your side window, opposite side to the sliding door, do you have a rafter or metal support van wall channel thingy ha :) passing vertically down the centre of the window? Many thanks. Luke
@LostInEurope7 жыл бұрын
Hey man, well so far no mould under the mattress! it is a proper foam one cut down slightly though not just cushion foam or something, maybe that helps? as for the window, yes i left the vertical strut in because there pretty structural i think. just sprayed the outside edge black and with the window tints you cant see anything anyway, then ran the wall panel over the inside so it looks alright.
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Ash Pollard. I may have to do something similar with the window. Although that pillar makes things much more tricky. Yours looks great. Thank you for your reply. Luke
@LostInEurope7 жыл бұрын
yea im not going to lie... it was one hell of a struggle getting that window in. get a helper for that part :D
@Nick23Wood7 жыл бұрын
Oh Dear - you are too hard working - shame about loosing all that valuable stuff - you should have hired a storage unit - you have discarded loads of useful templates - you can also use the unit to build in during the wet weather and to store all the valuables safely - a shipping container would only cost about £100 a month, all that ply which costs a fortune :( - still you now have a nice clean slate. Are you having an internal stair to the roof space?? I would also put high rear windows so you can look out of the new bedroom. Looking good even if the process was rather traumatic - for me at least :)
@LukesVanLife7 жыл бұрын
Nick Wood. Haha. I just wasnt happy with what i had built, i know i can do better so really excited to start again. Its going to be rustic now with lots of wood and a log burner. Cant wait. Ill have an external ladder to the roof. Thank you for watching. Luke
