Lukoki (Luambo Makiadi) - Franco (december 1988)

Today is the 19th anniversary of Franco's passing. On Thursday, October 12th, 1989, he died in a hospital in Belgium.
This is his final masterpiece, recorded in Brussels during the days before christmas, 1988.
He sings in his mother tongue, Kikongo.
Rhythm guitars: Franco & Dizzy Mandjeku, solo guitar: Franco, voices: Franco, bass: Mpudi Decca, percussion: Bosuma Dessoin, drums: unknown.
The pictures were taken in Amsterdam, January 18th, 1989.

Wow! This guy was a wizard. The chorus in this one, like in all of his music before it, catches on like you've heard it before even when you are hearing it for the first time, it becomes part of you and you can sit there listening to it for hours on end. His heavy voice, forever unique so that even if you listen to it all night, you wont tire, you will simply pick the music up the following morning from where you left it. The guitar in this one, simple, is killing.
