Lukumi is same as Olukumi which means my friend in Igala language. So, because they call people around them and one another Olukumi Olukumi, they later used the description as the name of their tribe. In Yoruba language, my friend is Oremi. But because Yoruba and Igala languages are very close, coupled with the wrong histories written before categorizing Igala as Yoruba even though Yoruba was introduced in the 19th century, people think Igala is Yoruba. Igala is a Kingdom in Nigeria. Their king is Attah Igala. Yoruba is a different tribe too. Their king is Ooni of Ife. That is why Lukumi religion is not the same as Yoruba religion or are not completely the same.
