polycam is the older method you are speaking of. photogrammetry to 3d model and texture... But it's the NeRF lighting which sets Luma apart in quality

This. There is no solid way or documentation on how to get this into a VFX pipeline. At the moment it's just a gimmicky app.

Hello there with support for Gaussian splatting .. why does the algorithm have a hard time with expanding on an area ? For example we would get some footage of an area and view it, but what if we want a larger are to 3D reconstruct .. it seems like it’s having a some problems putting more data together for getting a larger scene … any thoughts ?
