My son liked this song. He died almost 2 years ago at the age of 26. I see why he liked it... besides the old country sound, he was always somewhere in the middle. He was very intelligent, but had no desire to go to college and get a job using the brains God gave him. He fumbled around doing different things until he found what he loved to do: fish... commercial fishing. He loved being on the water. It got him out of town and away from some bad choices he made and people who encouraged his bad habits. I'm so glad he had those times with nature. I have listened to this song so many times, and I just decided to share my story. Brant, I like this too. I love you, Mom

Currently in University and have found myself somewhere in the middle. Grew up in a small town and was raised on the back 40 by a military father. Found I learned more in the woods, in bars, and with folks most would consider unsavory company than I ever have in University, but University has taught me its own lessons outside of the classroom.

I grew up in an area where rich people and ranchers live; kraft mac n cheese was a delicacy to me and dining out was very special. I wouldn't say we were poor so much as we were very low middle class. There was always a roof over our heads and food on the table but I had more lessons in humility than I can count. I would go to kmart, walmart, or the dollar store to window shop even though we couldn't afford the $0.99 beyblade toys. We are doing pretty good now. Mom has the same job in the same company and made it through a dozen or so rounds of layoffs somehow getting raises instead. Dad changed trades because of the recession and he's making decent money. I'm working and going to college because none of us can really afford to live here. This song hits home for us especially as blue collar workers. I can't help but feel if I got all of us out of California we would be living so much better and with so much less stress.

He was gone 1 year Feb. 16, he passed away in 2022.That was the worse day of my life, and it hasn't gotten better not one second. My heart breaks when i listen to songs like this His name is Jason, he was just a down yo earth person, he worked hard an he loved his family, but he pretty much loved everybody. I miss him so much. Never though i could do this, an really still not sure. My heart is crushed, Jason sent his mom a song ( Beauty in the struggle ) its special ,its forsure her...love country music , somehow in ever song it tells a story... Thanks everyone for sharing 😢 country is all true... 💔

It's funny... This song reminds me of how things are going in my life, too. Younger brother is hooked on drugs and depressed. Older brother has a Masters and is getting ready to become a teacher. I ended up getting my GED and working at Domino's for a while until becoming a truck driver now working for Navajo out of Denver while my whole family is still in Louisiana. I'm lucky enough to have a boyfriend who loves me and family out here in Denver. Never thought in a million years I'd actually make it here, but I did. I went from the kid everyone thought would amount to nothing to getting ready to buy my own place with the love of my life... Oh, how things change.

mine and my buddy's favorite even though all his songs are great.. We are always talking about money and how it doesn't matter to us even though we make decent money.. He's a heavy equipment operator and and I'm a CDL delivery driver.. yall shouldn't give a damn about how much money we make... we are all going out with nothing like we came in 😉.. Friendships experiences and the memories are where it's at.. Don't ever take your good friends for granted. Couldn't have ever dawned on me, all the things that I would be I, I never really looked out quite that far It's never been a simple thing, to see the world with a Young man's brain with, an old man's heart, restless soul Yeah, my family went broke in my eighteenth year Dad took a job many miles from here that That was alright by me I was on my own I had a band, found a job, life was alright I worked when I had to, we played all the time Only, got through that first year of college alright But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line I've known a lot of real good men, grad school or no school I've called em' my friends I'm I'm somewhere in the middle and that's just fine No, I don't give a damn how much money you make If your last shirt has pockets, take all you can take I'm Well, I'm goin' out with nothin' like I came in Cause I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line But I learned more on the freight docks Driving forklifts on the 3 o'clock AM shift In the winter time, man it got cold Selling guitars on the west coast Going hungry, chasin' ghost around And around we would go And I saw it all tendin' bar at night Treatin' saints and sinners right Is a good thing to do all the time You never know who you're talkin' to But always know who's watching you Keep your feet movin' straight down the line

Got out of the Army a few months ago and using the GI for school while I work on a freight dock and it is hard to justify college i feel like i’m learning pointless shit and not getting educated. Worked blue collar since I was 17 got my GED 10th grade and i’m just thankful to be working. Blue collar never fails and $$ doesn’t buy happiness.

I have no idea what it is about this song specifically that makes me break down and cry. As I listen to it I just understand it all. It shows that all lessons aren’t taught in school, that the value of a man isn’t monetary or based on the level of education they have. The value of man is based on who they are as a person. Treat everyone the same until they give you a reason otherwise. Sometimes you will get lost on this big rock and find yourself in the middle of it. But that’s just fine

Man I feal this brother, like his songs are written bout me as well. I've got a college degree, don't use it , I honestly worked at a department store for nine years , clock in for that hoot awel shift, hoppin on the forklift loading semii trailers for ten hours ( 16) during the Christmas season. And hell yeah it was cold but I learned more from them truckers and all the other real folk I worked with , than I ever did sitting in s damn class in college class. Yeah I got a degree but who was there for me after I finished. It was my Truckin buddies forklift driver's , god, family, and real America...kept that job for 6 years after school. The store's I was unloading for got shut down and hell no it wasn't Walmart! ..sorry for rambling ya ll but the choir of this song just hits me so perfect! Learned more driven forklifts at the docs ...Cody brother your music really hits me , all your topics songs that tell a story. Man Cody your gonna have to write a bad song sometime , or else your gonna be walking on water!
