Lumbar fusion surgery has evolved and offers now options to treat spinal pathology of all severity levels with open or minimally invasive techniques or combinations thereof. There are distinct characteristics of lumbar fusion options that may offer advantages in particular scenarios depending on patient pathology, surgeon experience and training level.
