Rancher from Oklahoma here, let me tell you about the beef industry. I decided to go back and look at my receipts from farm and ranch expenses throughout the Joe Biden era. This is not me shooting my mouth off nor is it an estimate. These numbers come right off my receipts used for tax purposes from 2020 to 2021, 2021 to 2022 and 2022 to 2023. Going by receipts for fertilizer, diesel, chemicals, hay, corn and lubricants and other materials our inflation was 18% one year followed by 24% the next followed by 11% the third year. So, 53% over 3 years is a long shot from what the media is telling us and our steers are bringing 5 to 10% more from this 53% increase in cost. We are hurting. Something that cost $1.00 at the grocery store in 2020 did not go up in cost to $1.07 like the media tells us and anyone that has been grocery shopping knows this. That $1.00 item went to $1.25 to $1.50 to about $1.65 over the three last years. In the end, small businesses and independent farmers take the brunt while large corporations profits continue to soar. We pay retail for everything but have to sell everything wholesale. Just venting, sorry.

Wow! Would be nice if the USA, Inc. would publish accurate data. Thank you for ranching. My neighbors in the Butternut Valley are mostly dairy famers and they will go a few years underwater. Too much usury in the credit system and while it is easy to get lured in we are to blame for using those products. I remember hearing stories as a kid of famers going bust getting lured into buying equipment at just 2% from the Fed. Owen Benjamin spells it out in his unique way of analyzing these things. Do the Amish have some kind of crystal ball?

Look in this time of Corporate America running everything for maximum profit and caring about people - not at all, it is so fun watching this family owned business. If I were in your area I would certainly buy from you all. I am a wood worker putterer and I now and then but a thousand BDFT of hardwood. Anyways, I am an avid watcher and just would love more family owned places of business. Great job - show more about your hard wood side of the business - like maybe some of the project people make from your wood. This will help with plan "C".

Enjoy your longer videos quite a bit more. Realize you can't always provide them. I had an employer that both sold logs domestically and overseas. Also sliced faifly large amounts of veneer. He never let markets dictate to him very often. We were constantly in look for high end veneer logs to slice. If the market was slow, he kept cutting saying it would recover and his company was usually one that customers would contact when things turned around knowing his strategy. He always told his buyers that good material would always sell. Mediocre might stay in the warehouse for a while, but it never bothered him to have inventory. What I'm trying to tell you is that as long as you cut quality lumber most people still want that. When the tie market rebounds, then you can cut the lower grade logs, or that's what I'm thinking. You know better than I 😊😊

Hi guys,I was in the saw.mill/lumber./pulp industry for 35yrs and was in farming/dairy industry before that. Bought up on a farm and I can always remember my dad saying."one year you can buy a Rolls Royce, next year you trade it on a Ford. Couple yrs later you've go an old Ford then with a market upturn its another new Ford,yr later its another Rolls Royce. Guess he was telling me that in the primary industries things are always cyclical. Keep going guys it'll get better. He told me this little pearl of wisdom in1958!Cheers from HB NZ

Here in the far north of New York, the upcoming problem will likely be the closure of the ReEnergy wood chip electric plant at Fort Drum. It supposedly burns 70 tons of chips an hour, and is fuel subsidized to "support the logging industry". What is the reality for the forest products consumer? Supply shortages and higher prices, because you're competing with your own tax money. You are fortunate to have an in house source of supply, but there are still more that can be wrung out of the feedstock. I was utilizing pieces as small as 1X4X36 as material for nostalgia porch skirting, and look at all the farmers market selling bird feeders and bird houses, not to mention sports accessory items. Makes the slab pile smaler, and one of my friends used the smaller slab pieces to fuel outdoor boilers to supply heated air to their kilns. Just pointing out there are options available, even with a big player in town.

Here in the Tulsa, OK area housing starts continue to boom in spite of record inflation. A small gated community with around 50 homesites located one mile from me began construction 2 years ago. The homes are mostly two story brick around 2300 sq ft. They're selling for more than $600,000 on miniscule lots. That's double what the same size home was selling for in our area in 2018. It's crazy.

Thinking of something that might interest people. Take 2 logs of the same scale and length. Cut one as full size demention. And one as standard demention. And compare that to the scribner scale in terms of the % above scale. . I know with 5/16" saw teeth, we average around 30% over scribner scale. Anyway, just an idea I had, thought it would interest folks.
