You might get rid of the burr by turning the timber over half through sanding. I was looking at this but I’m not sure now.

Have you decided on a sander yet? If so, what did you go for in the end? And is it any good?

@@chrisp6850 Hiya Chris, I've been looking at quite a few and to be fair they all seem to have some sort of weakness, like the belt stalling, or the disc sander table dropping or that you have to take guards off to flip the belt up or take it off to change. No one sander stands out more than the other, but I have been looking at the Clarke CS4-6E, and apart from a slight bit of play with the mitre slide guide (which I think could be sorted with a bit of blue painters tape) this looks like it could be in the running.

@Sean; thanks for your feedback. I'm really struggling to make my mind up on what to go for too. The Clarke is also on my short list ;)

@@chrisp6850 Hiya Chris, no problem, i think the same model is bought in from China anyway and just 'rebranded. I was looking at the ryobi but apparently that has belt stalling issues with only slight pressure. So Clarke is in the lead just now. I'm going to keep looking but unless something else appears on the market Clarke may have the win.👍👍👍

Have you tried to tighten the belt to stop the stalling thing?

I have, I’ve tried multiple tensions. To be fair it’s only if you press down quite hard, and it only stops the belt not the disc.

Thanks for the review, please can you tell me the measurements of the of the belt sander work surface (not the length of the belt)? Thanks! I need to sand something flat but not sure if this machine will be big enough for my work piece
