Lumbini Birth Place of Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, was born in 623 B.C. in the famous gardens of Lumbini, Nepal. Among the pilgrims was the Indian emperor Ashoka, who erected one of his commemorative pillars in this place.
