The only problem was finding a good teacher for this. I quickly came across you and your channel with very clear explanations and even webinars. Yes! Virtual copy is long overdue. 🎉 There's another small change I'd really like to see Skylum make: it's the functionality of the eye icon in each of the edited tool's panels. Instead of click and hold to see the "before and after" effect, it would be nice to make the eye icon "sticky" like that in the Photoshop layers panel, i.e. click to turn off and click to back turn on. I think being able to toggle each tool's effect off/on is more useful than to reset the effect.

Thank you for the great explanation of upcoming changes. I have searched on whether I can crop numerous photos at the same time. Such as taking a 4:3 ratio group of photos and crop them to 3:2 in one click. Am I searching for something that doesn't exist or can it be done in the current version. Darlene just subscribed to your channel as I'm thinking of changing software. I have been a On1 Raw user for many years however with all their updates and the constant use of AI the program has outstripped my computer making the software unusable. So will this be the case with Luminar? As I'm dubious to commit. Secondly should I buy outright or subscribe? Keep up the work from the UK

What are the specs for your computer? Really depends on processor, ram, and graphics card. If you get it do the subscription then you always have the latest tools and all updates

I for sure agree with the "what's missing" items - I need copying the mask in layers! With regards to Virtual Copy, does the copy have all of the edits "active" and then you can just use more tools in that version? Or are the original edits all baked into the virtual copy and then you can only add new edits to the virtual copy? Any new tools are welcomed - I'm most excited about the filmstrip b/c when doing composites that will come in handy to have all the images you want to include right at your fingertips. The Catalog features will excite some people but if we can't use Neo as a DAM (for us Neo-only users who don't have a Lightroom Catalog) then the star ratings and sorting isn't something I'll use b/c I do single image edits. Anyway, I love Luminar so there aren't any complaints from me.

Do you have a subscription or lifetime license? If you have a lifetime license from over a year ago you do not get the new tools.

Another great addition would be for LUTs to be categorised. I have now amassed a great number and it's not very useful to have to go through a long list to find what I want.

I know there are categories for such things as ' creative' etc but I'm referring to custom Luts which is where all my purchased stuff goes. This is where I now have a few hundred Luts and it would be great if I could put these into categories. Skylum told me recently it wasn't possible at the moment.

Actually I find supersharp AI with normal mode good for phone photos with a little movement with times like 1/10s and in some situations it worked even better than topaz photo ai for unknown reason, but for most of photos from a DLSR it doesnt work good.

I'm reserving my judgment as it seems to me that many of the new updates should have been standard in Neo from the start. I love many of the tools in Neo & paying for upgrades is fair and reasonable, but I do think they should be for additional editing advantages, not basic stuff. Even Nikons NX Studeos free editing software has proper catalogue star/colour code ratings along with filmstrip view.

Did you watch the whole video? There is a huge misconception among Luminar users about what "lifetime license" actually means. It means you own THAT version, the one you bought, in the year you bought it, forever. But it does NOT mean you get free updates for a lifetime. That is not a realistic expectation. If you never update your computer or camera you can keep using the software you bought and never pay again. But if you want to newer tools, need updates for new cameras or computers - then the subscription is a better deal.

The catalog is bad even after the update. And I mean totally bad. Exports for an awfully long time. RAW loading is endless. When I want to go from one RAW to another RAW, I have to go to the catalog and back to the editor. Zoner X is much better for bulk edits from events. I have arranged for a refund and am going back to zoner X. Zoner has a catalog like a tree in windows. Zoner has an absolutely great catalog. Keywords, ratings, color marks. Local editing of the raw format. Photoshop-like layer editor.

@@DigitalPhotoMentor Multiple reasons: If everyone just accepts a bad status quo, it's unlikly to change. Seeing a rather positive report on something you percieve to be bad can evoke the need to inform the world of your version of "the truth". No idea why we humans work that way, I didn't study psychology ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Also, it's easier to write a comment than to create a video on the topic. And while i think it's easy to feel frustrated with luminar as a software and skylum as a company, you have to be very enraged to go through the effort to create a video if you aren't already a "content creator". I don't think this comment is purely trashing a software. Whily slightly emotionally loaded, it is informative. I now know that I don't have to try the new version if the catalogue was the only thing I was looking forward to. And I have been informed of the existence of Zoner X.
