In this video I compare the Lumintop D2 pocket thrower against the Sofirn IF22A. It's my first Sofirn light, and I was impressed with it for the most part.
Lumintop D2 Specs:
Nichia or Osram LED (this review features Nichia)
Battery: Comes with 18650 li-ion with adapter tube to fit, and will accept 21700 battery as well (not included)
Low Mode: 11 lm
Medium Mode: 270 lm
High Mode: 550 lm
Turbo Mode: 800 lm

Sofirn IF22A Specs:
Battery: 21700 (included)
Low Mode: 30 lm
Medium: 320 lm
High: 1100 lm
Turbo: 2100 lm
Claimed throw distance: 697 meters
The Sofirn IF22A has two methods for switching between modes. The first is the standard for most flashlights, where pressing and holding the power button cycles between 3 preset brightness modes. The second, which is swapped by pressing the power button 5 times, makes it so that pressing and holding the power button slowly but smoothly moves from brightest to dimmest, then back again. You can stop wherever along the way and get exactly the brightness you're looking for.
I like the concept, but personally I found that the smooth brightness switching was too slow for me during practical usage, so I went back to the preset modes so that I can quickly step between defined brightness and get what I needed fast.

Fishing line works great for those tough lanyard holes. Never used lumintop lanyard because yeah, they are pretty thick

just got a FC22A for work. i already got 2 other throwers, a very similar AcebeamL17 and a K75, a real monster thrower, wich i use very rare and only as a toy. in rl i find Flooders alot more useful, with very few exceptions.

I liked your video a lot; it was very helpful in seeing what the difference is between the flashlights. I do want to mention, however, that I do NOT think that the method used by the Sofirn to step from one brightness level to the next - pressing and holding - is the "standard for most flashlights." The method that the Lumintop uses (single-click the button to step between modes) is the method used on every Fenix FL that I have tried, and note that it is the method used even on the Sofirn SC31T, a flashlight that Sofirn sells as an alternative to the SC31 Pro that has an Anduril UI (they both have an alternative ramping method, which is standard with Anduril). I think that you may just be more used to the press-hold method. I dislike it, myself. Different strokes for different folks I guess. We are in agreement that the step-mode is better than the ramping method, although I think that people who are used to Anduril prefer ramping. Probably because they are still exhausted from trying to figure out how to configure the Anduril UI... 😉
