Lumion or D5 Render which is better for landscape design

Animating a 3D landscape with D5 Render at a third of the time using Lumion
Is D5 better over Lumion? I think yes in terms of the real-time rendering viewport, paid services and rendering speed.
RTX 4070. 8-second-long video, 1080p
D5 Render: 00h 19m
Lumion: 1h 06m

D5 Render of course. It is fast, much more photorealistc and way cheaper than Lumion

D5 render with this version 2.4 has become the best software, whether it is the UX/UI, the assets, the speed, it is today in all points superior to Lumion and Twinmotion which have to follow the rhythm of D5. Because D5 is also developing very fast, DLSS 3.0 was released yesterday, pathtracing will arrive soon to gain even more rendering quality, etc.... Lumion stayed ahead for a long time, now it's D5's turn and it will last for a few years, before someone else overtakes it. The only one that could kill the game is Twinmotion if Epic wanted to make it a priority....for the moment it is not the case.

Just wait ;) there is lots coming to Twinmotion like lumen and path tracing updates, but they really need to overhaul the plant & furniture libraries!

As a corona renderer user , now i see D5 render is the best software for exterior rendering , and a very great software for interior rendering

If you touch fstorm, you will leave corona for interior as well, just learn from experienced user .

I’ve been trying to go from Lumion to D5 all day. Been trying to learn D5. I have to say I really want to love it but the grass and D5 is so terrible. I cannot get it to look right and the scatter tool is crap.

I'd like to see a comparison of D5 and twinmotion. As a beginner and hobbyist I use Twinmotion because it is free to use, but I am considering moving to a paid platform soon.

D5 is so much faster and seens to give a better result. Twinmotion is too unstable.

@@Alefjjas for the new updates it is a very stable software now with ray tracing and lumen like rendering support which is just amazing . It has 3 rendering type options something for every type of configuration . Plus a huge huge online library

D5 flickering(Window panes) is minimal and realism is more.

D5 is better for interiores, for exteriors lumion 12 is a bit ahead, while video animation, lumion is much better, has many more animation options, aspect ratios, and video quality 1080p 3 stars looks better than d5 4k, but the ui and viewport in d5 is wayyyy better

I have to disagree, Lumion used to be better for exteriors. Every since D5's 2.4 update their exterior lighting has easily surpassed Lumion. The vegetation detail also matters for exterior shots, and while Lumion was the king of vegetation assets, it is not anymore. D5 has just way too good vegetation assets and over 3000 of them now. As a landscape architect I made the jump to D5 just few months ago and my work is so much better now.

@@awaishssn for example the amount of grass that u have on lumion is way more and also there are a few tricks u can use where u can use two planes and landscape glass below etc and control it better for video animation for example, i mainly use D5 now as well specially since I'm very disappointed with the new lumion, but d5 exterior wise is not there yet in terms of customizability and specially video animation

The real question is how comfortable you are using either software, and how well you technically know how to manipulate each. If you're use to using D5, then why switch. But if you know how to using Lumion, and other modeling software's then I'll agree with using Lumion. As for the content in Lumion, all that can be created if they don't exist. But if you plan on using out of the box D5 and not plan on creating anything else, then you're not power user. I build everything, especially if it doesn't exist. It's no different that using 3DS Max. or Blender.
