In a corner of the fairground in Humulești (fair day, at the beginning of December 2023), overshadowed by the multitude of pieces of household furniture, Lucian Georgescu's gaze is drawn from afar by two small barrels exposed on a pedestal raised on a table. He immediately realized that this is where the point is to see the authentic tradition, the craft of coopering (barrel making), and he was not mistaken. There are two new acacia barrels good for (aged) plum brandy (or brandy) awaiting buyers. Why we use acacia, about the tradition of coopering that is preserved or not and about the "art" of keeping brandy in such containers, we learn from Lucian Georgescu's discussions with a potential buyer and with the craftsman who made these quality barrels.
