I had to stop this Video to come add a comment. I want to thank you for showing that with the right person behind the camera anything is possible. I’ve seen so many videos of people whining about the S9 and you took it and keep it Beautifully Simple. Bro I would love to talk to you one day, just to get your take on something. I shoot with multiple S5 II for Events but your eyes and how you see things is intriguing… keep up the excellent work Brother. May God continue to Favor You.

Really appreciate your comment brother, it means a lot! Usually, my videos have more talking head shots but I think it's quite important to let the images speak for themselves in this one, so the majority was shot on the S9. Pretty stoked about all the images I was able to capture with this compact setup! Any questions just DM me on Instagram 👊

Great review - the idea for adapting smaller vintage lenses to this camera is a sitter, but one missed by just about every other reviewer out there. Looks like my kind of camera, souped up point and shoot :-). The LUTs feature totally appeals too …
@masterofcamera7 ай бұрын
Thanks! When I heard about a small LUMIX full frame camera, the only feature I wished to have was Real Time LUT - I loved getting ready JPG’s out of my S5IIX while also having raw files as a backup in case I need to readjust something. So seeing that LUMIX took this feature to another level and implemented the LUT button as well as the entire new app where your can create your own LUTS and share them with your friends is really fantastic to see and definitely the right direction… it’s those things that make it fun and combining that with adapting vintage glass just adds to the excitement. Not to mention the x-pan aspect ratio for photos… that’s such a fun feature too!

what versatile lenses would you recommend to get along with the s9?
@masterofcamera2 ай бұрын
Hey check out my latest video on the 18-40, I got into detail about it and I can definitely recommend that as an overall travel lens. For night photography and bokeh, the Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 and for long range shooting 28-200, with hybrid zoom function it’s a tiny beast!

Anybody know what lens and filter is being used here with the s9?
@masterofcamera7 ай бұрын
I mostly used the H&Y RevoRing VND+CPL (It's quick and easy to put on and works well with lenses from 67 to 82 filter thread size) - a big downside is if you bump it, it might fall off lol... so just need to be careful with it. Otherwise, the Freewell VND 2-5 & 6-9 stops is the other ones I use if I need a more secure mount.

Here are all the lenses that I have used to film this video: 1. Helios 44-2 58mm f2 2. Nikor 45mm f2.8 3. Voigtlander 35mm f1.5 4. Lumix 18mm f1.8 5. Lumix 35mm f1.8 6. Lumix 28-200mm F4-7.1 7. Sigma 24-70 f2.8

Would you mind posting some of the vintage manual lenses that you mentioned. Especially for the type of people that will buy this camera and want to get into manual lenses, which are the ones that you recommend working with this camera?
@masterofcamera6 ай бұрын
I was actually thinking of making a video about my favourite lenses for the S9, and yes most of those would be manual and some would be vintage.
@edwin_ac4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. May I ask, for the hybrid zoom, does the zoomed image projected on the LCD, will be the same image that will reflect on the raw file? Or will it be, that the raw file will retain the maximum focal length, and we'll just crop in in post?
@Horizons_Roses7 ай бұрын
A great everyday carry or low key shots for doco. It really lacks an EVF (vintage glass / peaking on a tiny screen is a no go for me), and a mechanical shutter for photos, or just a better readout speed for photos.

Do the international stabilization systems work when you have vintage lenses on there? Or does the camera need to know exactly what lens you are using? I love using vintage glass on my Sigma FPL and as soon as I saw this camera I thought it would be the obvious choice.
@masterofcamera7 ай бұрын
Yes IBIS works with all lenses. The way it works is you can program a bunch of presets in the IBIS menu and save them for all the lenses that you have. I have the 58mm, 45mm and 35mm, so I have presets for all those and I just switch it in the menu when I change lenses.

Don't you think the limitations of video recording and the lack of a headphone jack place the Lumix S9 more in the hobby camera category?
@masterofcamera2 ай бұрын
Hey not really. If you’re shooting music videos you only need to roll for 5 minutes at a time max, and for music videos you only need a scratch mic. - this is just one example of people that wouldn’t need those features. By the way, check out my new video - lumix has just updated the S9 and removed the recording limitations and added some cool new features!

I was waiting for the Xs20 to come out but when it came out I delayed my decision. NOw, we have this S9…Am I going to be stuck in the Panasonic ecosystem?

I am really interested in this device mainly because of the design. I'm so newbie about camera. After watching a couple reviews about this device, my question is why HDR is so bad compared to flagships smartphones? Skills issues or is it just how the camera works without ultra processing like in smartphones?
@mostlyfinnishlifeeventsand51126 ай бұрын
All no-AI cameras are the same in this respect, irrecpectible of the sensor or the manufacturer. Phones using AI are much better at shooting in HDR / storing high-dynamic scenes. You can also do the same on a proper camera, but it requires some pre-planning and using formats like vlog.

It's great to see another review of the S9 that displays the features it has and how to get the most out of them. I've seen too many reviews of people just complaining about what it doesn't have. I mean, couldn't you do that with virtually any new camera? There's no such thing as the perfect camera, right? Anyway. The S9 looks like a lot of fun and with the ability to create your own LUTs, you can take them and use them on your S5ii/x, too. So, it's not just a fun camera. It's another tool in the toolbox.
@masterofcamera7 ай бұрын
This camera really inspires me to be creative, with the features it does have so I really wanted to push it to its limits with its stabilisation, low light capabilities etc. Yes of course there is no perfect camera, every system has its limitations. I have the Sony FX6, it’s a fantastic piece of kit… is it perfect? no way! It has a lot of missing features - no waveforms, no Open Gate! - even though it has a 3:2 sensor you can never use it, which is crazy… I can go on and on. S5IIX, I love it but also it has its disadvantages. It’s all about the right tool for the right job. Every camera has some limitations. Fun fact, having limitations makes me more creative. Sometimes I just like to take one prime lens rather than a zoom, it just makes you think harder and keeps the creative juices flowing.

The S9 seems nice but has way too many drawbacks when it comes to photography. No EVF, for one, minimal dial setup, and many more. Its advantages look like great stabilization and autofocus. @@masterofcamera there is other camera sits that are selling the S5ii or G9ii body for the same price as the S9. When I think of a budget camera I think of a camera for less then 1k not a camera that's close to 2K. Don't think they average camera user would see the S9 as a budget camera lol
