Lumley makes amazing products and their customer service was second to none with me. The fit and finish was amazing of the bolt shroud I purchased. This video says it all! The Lumley shroud is a better fit than stock. I plan to purchase the titanium bolt handle with the carbon knob! Looks amazing and all quality stuff! Can't go wrong with any of the Lumley products. Thanks guys!

Tikka specifically say that the firing pin should NOT be oiled or greased, ever!. Love the titanium bolt shroud and handle - awesome!.

OK thanks, that's interesting. I shall be ignoring that and greasing the firing pin spring but thanks for letting people know what Tikka recommend

You are very welcome. I know this advice goes against the grain! I have used light oil on both bolts & firing pins / springs in my Mod 70 Winchester featherweight .243 & Anschutz .22 Hornet Mod 1432D for about 40 years with zero adverse effects. But that's just what Tikka say is all. I've no idea why... well maybe a little guess possibly COULD be because it MIGHT affect the pathway designed into the bolt - to allow escaping gasses if you ever pierce a primer cup or suffer a case head separation to flow to the designed in escape ports. The Tikka T3 does NOT have gas escape ports machined into the underside of the bolt body to direct some of the escaping gasses downwards thu the magazine well - while other designs likely do. Perhaps that might put the shooter at increased risk of injury or something. Maybe we never get to find out the error of our ways until that event happens. Maybe it will never happen to most of us - I know its never happened to me in 40 odd years. It would be nice to know why Tikka say this?. The possible effect on lock time of the firing pin or some adverse effect on designed escaping gas porting maybe has something to do with it is all I can think of. If I could speak Swedish, I'd email them at Tikka and ask.

I had planned on replacing my shroud when it cracked; I had no idea it wasn't just functionally a dust cover.

Who did he say makes that 4140 steel bolt shroud? I am looking at a titanium one (can't recall who makes it).

Need to see why bolt assembly of sako 223 Tikka t3 rifle when ejecting round comes completely out of rifle. Why? And how to repair?

Richard, what is your experience with Tikka T3 rifles? Many folks in the US aren't fans of the rifle stating it looks and feels cheap.

7.62 mate they are massive over here. The drop box mag is a bonus and the triggers are ok. They are big big sellers. People here feel they are a step up in quality from R700, which are big sellers too. Myself i do not agree with that and feel that anything factory is going to be fairly ropey WRT tolerances etc. Cosmetically they do little for me either, wheras i like most of the R700 models much more. They are all very fine rifles for the money and you take your choices.

Richard Utting Thanks for the reply Rich. As a side note I enjoy your videos...your channel seems to be a diamond in the rough. What is so appealing to me about the Tikka rifles is that so many of them are offered in left hand versions. And the big selling point for me is the modern twist rates such as 1/8 for .223.

Shooter7point62 Yes that's a good point. LH is useful for many people (weird people ;) And absolutely, the 223 with 1/8 makes that model rightly very popular here with hand loaders

My .30-06 T3 Lite feels very nice in its Boyd's Featherweight Thumbhole stock. The inletting on the Boyd's is tighter than Donna Mills' jeans from her 1980s TV show...

+Shooter7point62 I have a T3 in '06. The bolt slides like wet ice on wet ice. The lock-up is tight and precise. The guns are guaranteed by Tikka to print three into a one-inch circle at 100 yards when using factory ammo. I assume they mean Tikka (or Sako) ammo. I didn't know Tikka manufactured ammo. Your handloads would perform even better, assuming you're a knowledgeable reloader...

This may seem ignorant, but why grease the firing pin rather than oil it?
@rootbeer4969

Oil flows. Grease does not; stays where you put it...
@RichardUttingSharpshootingUK

Yeah as the man rootbeer says, you don't want the oil to flow down the pin to the bolt face and be compressed there. Grease won't do that
