Hey Laura, Mike, Matt etc! I'm a drum tech out of the Muscle Shoals area in north Alabama. I've been one of Laura's biggest fans for the longest time and know every song inside and out. Like. I'm the drumming understudy you need if you ever need or want one. And at this point, it'd be ridiculous for me to not recognize Matt Ingram as probably my largest drumming influence. I want to work with you guys. I want to create. I want to hang out with you and talk about the patterns and drums used. Recording techniques. I'd love to get to play on the exact drums used on my favorite songs. I own 4 mastros now just to always be able to make that iconic snare sound on wild fire. I own a 14 inch Remo key tuned high end djembe that matches the exact sound of the one in the suite. I want to be your drum curator. Would you hire me as a drum curator and album/touring player? As for this song, I screamed when I heard the MJ style Sugarfoot shuffle come in on my first listen. The elements of this song are amongst the best on the album. I love the return to the darkness found in Laura's first albums. The accusatory aggression. The judgement. That side of her translates well in this genre/medium. And the synth French horns as a callback to that era, I think. And dont think I havent noticed how much more visceral and violent the birds have gotten in your lyrics over the years. All these ho hey bands and bright eyes singing about little yellow birds, and youve been reminding people that eagles will fucking tear other birds apart. Drag and drop goats off the side of a cliff. Peck at the shiny shit on your face. Lol. Theres a darkness in there that shines so bright when its let out. I'd LOVE to see a gritty new Orleans style psychedelic funk song or album from you guys. And I'd love to play on it. At least let me interview you guys as your biggest fan instead of someone getting random content for a job.
