these guys got it. they understood what a song should be...nothing overstated, everything in perfect harmonious symmetry - mise en place.

I followed Luna all the way through. Every album was wonderful. Bewitched was sublime, and my favorite. Saw them live at the Middle East in Cambridge, and will never forget it. Dean (Wareham) has a memoir out that is impeccably written, and rival's Morrissey's recent autobiography in its sincerity and erudite presentation. Don't miss the documentary of their farewell tour, Tell Me Do You Love Me.

God so god. Spent 20 years slowly learning all these parts on random guitars, drums and basses. still just so good.

One of my favorite Luna songs. I think the singing is less expressive than it is in the studio version, but it's still great to watch them play it. I like how in the first half of the song Sean is playing lead guitar and Dean is playing rhythm, and then they switch roles, but it's all executed seamlessly.

What an excellent song. The lead guitar interplay, melody, and total connectedness of the band in this song is sublime and an unreserved pleasure to experience. Oh, to be in a Luna concert of the 90's.

Sure do miss the original lineup. Justin and Stanley for the win! Saw them right around this time at Opus 40, an outdoor stone amphitheatre in Saugerties, NY.

Just a fan-tastic sound truly. Makes me wanna play. Never tire of it. Sad I never saw them live. Bought Bewitched upon release and played it through the years a thousand times…never wore out in my head. Bare-down basics Rock n’ Roll. Can’t call it pop because lookin’ at them you get the sensation that other than their sound they don’t give a damn! A sweet portray of the power of going simple, 4-piece band. So glad to have been a ‘youth’ in the 90’s. In relative terms seemed like such a innocent optimistic time and diametrical opposite to the sensation of being a youngin’ nowadays sadly :(

James Bell jr. I would record 120 every Sunday. Still have a box of old VHS tapes in the attic, I think. Just a heads up. VH1 still plays old reruns of 120 between 2am and 4 am on the weekends (CST). Cheers James

@cbmccarthy I saw this show too, in S.F. - it was my intro to Luna. I followed them to the very bitter end where I saw their last tour here in Portland. Once, again, while visiting S.F., my friend and I got backstage at the Warfield and met Dean. Dean and stale sushi. It was a "moment" in my life! :-)

@Kinshasa9200 check out "Penthouse." I feel like on that album Luna became a band of their own, rather than a post-Galaxie 500 project or Dean Wareham solo effort. If that makes sense.

'Penthouse' was my initiation to Luna courtesy of a mall record store in Monroe, MI. I was on vacation from Ireland in 1995 and saw the CD on display. I had never heard of Luna before that but the 'artwork' looked interesting. When I saw the band's personnel and especially a guest appearance by Tom Verlaine not to mention the Feelies' Stan Demeski on drums, I knew right away I would love this band. And so it proved to be! I love everything these guys do and have done. The best!

People often compare the MTV of today with the way it was in the '90s and earlier. The usual verdict is that it was a much better channel when it was mostly music with a few unique shows. The problem with this is time. What do 'the kids' do now if they want to watch some music videos? They've got an XBOX next to the TV, they can stream unlimited youtube clips, or better quality stuff from subscription services. Why would anyone watch MTV when they can use the internet and control the playlist?

@jimaluko This comment makes no sense, but it sounds like you didn't live through it. 120 Minutes was the only place to see Luna on MTV. They were rarely, if ever played in rotation. 120 Minutes was the last saving grace of music television. They had already started to show The Real World, which started the ultimate downfall of an already trite network.

ok, everyone, I discovered Luna while watching a compilation hand job video--yes that kind. The music was fucking cool! Hedgehog and Peaky Freaky (I think) was playing over all these cum shots. Anyways, music was so good I bought two of their CDs right away and started diggin through the vids. Great stuff!

Dean had the flannel and the hair, but good grief, could there have been more of a mismatch between MTV 120 Minutes and Luna? I guess there was a fleeting moment in the early 90's when all bets were off for any alt associated bands..

i want to like this band, i really do. I absolutely adore Galaxie 500, and thought Dean & Britta's 13 Most Beautiful Songs was great (live anyways), but this song sounds horribly generic. I mean, the opening riff alone sounds like something from Sublime. what am i missing here? what should i listen to?

Never "alt rock". Let`s do everyone a financial favour by calling it "pop" - great for the thinking, great for the integrity and pleasure of it all, better for the musicians` pocket. Stop daydreaming, and do it. People like Wareham would be loaded, overnight. Pop stars.
