Man games with an apocalyptic future setting that blend the modern with the old are just incredible. I love how Lunacid has VHS tapes in it. It's such an out of place thing to see in a medieval fantasy setting that just makes the whole experience feel fresh and unique. It has massive implications as well for what else could be in the lore. There's a lot of potential in a sequel though I don't think it will ever happen. The endings were just perfect.

This whole game is a vibe. I really hope a sequel that's just bigger and introduces roguelite concepts for replayability and extra difficulty. There's a lot of potential here.

Great video! I was hungry for more lore after finishing the game and this video definitely delivered. I hope we get dlc with a happier ending for the side characters/more lore, similar to spookys mansion. I really enjoyed the game though, my favorite areas had to be the sanguine sea and the castle.

Sorry for my poor English, but here are my thoughts on the ending E. After watching the video tapes and the whole meta narrative, like "What happens to characters in a dream when a dreamer wakes up" and all that, I came to the conclusion that the beast is the player. The whole world is his dream and while we are playing, the world exists, and I slightly spoilered the ending and therefore thought that this is the best ending that the player character himself becomes a dreamer and will be able to continue the existence of the world without the beast (player) to stay with all the friends that he met on the way, but as it turned out the ending is completely different, very sad and depressive.

Your English is good buddy don't worry. I think I understand what you're saying and I can understand where you're coming from. My interpretation of the endings is up to interpretation too so don't feel too bad. If it makes you feel better, waking the dreamer is the true ending.

@@doctordirck All the endings are some kind of horror and decay. A the end of the world, but waking up in a new one with all the memories of friends, B escape from a dying world (unsuccessfully by the way) and the doom of another prosperous world to death and suffering, CD is more a ester egg, E the destruction of the world and an attempt to create your own, which for some reason is an endless wasteland, that is, it is even worse than the first ending. It's even funny that the basic ending with the destruction and genocide (lunacide) of the world is the best

Two things. 1. Jotunn is pronounced Yo-tun 2. What is your source on the player character being supernatural and being able to reset upon death? I can't find anything in my searches.

1. 🤓 2. There's a combination of things I used. Firstly a note on a dead corpse in the arena. "I've met my end it seems. At least I found one of the great curses, the unkillable serpent, second only to The Seven of Swords, the Thief of Life. I had hoped to find that one as well. One who could steal their life back if dead, and turn killing into power. But alas." (If you have trouble finding this corpse I can post a link to a imgur where I can drop it). Lobos makes the first hint, a direct quote to this in the beginning of the game with "Wretched Thief. Thinking of stealing your life back?" Thief in nature, not in class. A thief of life maybe? Who else in the entire game can turn killing into power? Anybody? Sucsarius becomes more primal and twisted with time and curses it seems, but not necessarily more powerful with kills, and even so the Seven of Swords is a different person than the cursed serpent. You might be able to make a slight argument for Garrat the Hound but solely because of his hammer made implicitly to grind foes but he's a hound and a knight, not a thief even for that mist of an argument. The implication in Lobo's intro quote is a metaphorical "stealing your life back" but if you notice any time you die there's an image of long gangly fingers stealing back your 'life' or 'time'. It's both a literal thing you can do in game by resetting before death with a load, and an in-universe resetting before death.

@@zippius They're not super super connected but some elements and characters sure. Garrat the Hound is the same species as the dogs from midnight mode, Demi is a painting in one of the halls in midnight mode, and the prison guards now called jailors were called priests in midnight mode. They're not implicitly related other than what I mentioned but I didn't pull anything lore-wise from midnight mode, just B-Roll footage. There isn't really much story to midnight mode anyways.

Great video, this helps to get everything into my head in an understandable way :) What I wonder though, what was the time at the beginning? I mean when we see the great one blow out the poison gas in the intro. I wonder if this was the modern time, are the VHS's a relict from there or was it always more medieval?

Thank you I'm glad you enjoyed it and this is a really good question it shows you're thinking about the gaps and trying to fill them with critical thinking. Personally I kind of imagined it as a very late 1900s the time that the game opens and the intro cutscene takes place in a antiquated little coastal town that still has some old architecture and technology but also has new stuff as well. Sort of like how some stone villages in parts of the world have access to the internet and cell phones but not the cultural technology you or I might be used to seeing. Of course it could be much later than that since the VHS and TV's seem to be a kind of meta element for the player so you're supposed to imagine that they don't actually have anything to do with the story. Lastly it could be a completely alternate reality where the differing technologies all exist at that time naturally or through the bleeding of realities that seems to happen. Very good question you asked.

It's a secret mode in Lost in Vivo called midnight mode. You get it from starting the game at midnight I believe.

You know I'm not sure. I've heard about issues with old saves having screwy compatibility with the 1.0 update so if you're on an older save it may not work. Otherwise a couple of people I think were having some trouble getting the moon dependant stuff to work. Someone on the steam community forums or the discord might have a better idea though than me.

Probably Lost in Vivo. Sotiris's footage is from Lost in Vivo, another game by Akuma Kira, and then some other footage here and there is also from Lost in Vivo's midnight mode which was the spiritual predecessor to Lunacid.

I don't think the Dusty Crystal Orb will have another use later. You can't get ending CD without talking to Demi. I'm pretty sure the orb is what you're looking at and talking to, not the puddle itself. Sadly, I lost my saves when the Cloud Saves went live, so I can't check. You should be able to open the save file and flag the orb as not in your inventory and see if you can get that ending.

I just took a shot at it after having read your comment and I have 3 saves and one of them actually happens to be right after the Sucsarius fight but right before talking to Demi or Calamus. You're able to go and get ending CD without either talking to Demi or having the Dusty Crystal Orb in your inventory. It was a good guess though. If you want an easy way to try it yourself I believe there's a save editor in the Basilisk 2000 OST google drive. If you are interested and need an easy link let me know.

This game needs a serious revision. They added so many good things but left most of it unfinished, and created characters that got jack shit in terms of development. If they created more content for the game and fleshed out the lore, they would be sitting on a gold mine. It didn’t leave me wanting more, it left me greatly disappointed. It spiked my interest in multiple ways and never finished anything.
