Lunar Beauty Moon Spell Vol 2 First Impression + How Similar is Vol 1??

Vol 2 was made in China, since the US labs were charging a lot more. Overall, I feel like the palette performed better than swatched based on personal experience. Some mattes you do have to build up more compared to his other palettes. I feel like his best formulas are in the moon palettes ( Strawberry dream and Eternal Eclipse ).

I absolutely regretted not getting Moonspel Vol 1. I didn't realize it was going to be limited edition. If I had known that at the time I would have bought it!

The formula is definitely different and I’m disappointed that most reviewers didn’t touch on that topic, or they said it was the same formula because that’s not true. They may have genuinely liked the palette but it’s not the same formula. I kind of feel bad to say it, but don’t trust a lot of creators, but I know who to go to for honest reviews (like you and other people who are honest). Just my opinion. I’m not happy with my palette and feel like 4 shades could’ve been swapped out for different shades to make it more of a diverse palette. However with a good primer and glitter glue I made it work. I just feel that for the price I paid $48, I paid too much and could’ve spent my money better. I used 20 shades and my first 2 looks were bad but my last 4 were good. Thanks for your honesty.

Salutations fellow makeup lover. So, I felt a smidge disappointment in the palette too. 😫😩😫😩 The change in formulation is definitely noticeable. A few of those light browns and super pinky shades could have been replaced. I love the packaging and basically paid for that because the palette is not the same amazing quality he has had in the past.

@@melissa_hilliard_ifekristii 👋🏼 Hello! 😁 Yes I feel the same way unfortunately. I’m hoping he goes back to his previous quality/formula. I don’t mind it being made in the PRC as long as the quality is still there but it missed the mark for me. I think he could’ve swapped out those few shades for something else or omitted a row of shadows and reduced the price to $40. I’ll still use it and make it work but it’s not something I’d recommend people buy unless they are okay with that formula, can get it for 50% off one day or want it for the collector’s aspect. They can probably get something similar color story wise from Colourpop for cheaper especially during a Colourpop sale.

@@celestecelestial90 YEP! I purchased the original Moonspell on a Valentine's Day sale over a year ago got it 50% off. LoL. So THAT is the only time I would recommend it too. I finally got all my ColourPlop orders and honestly you're absolutely right about them having some improvement in their formulation and colour scheme too. BH Cosmetics is rocking on in the formula game as well. I do not mind products made in the PRC there have been phenomenal makeup from there. I just hope the original formulations from palettes past is used in future releases. Lunar Beauty is truly an amazing brand. 👏🏾 I just had some legit high hopes for this palette. LMAO 😂 🤣 😂 🤣

Vol 1 is the more interesting of the two. I have no use for such a big pink and purple palette . I would have much preferred a restock of Vol 1. Dunno how changing the lab factors in that decision.

Still so sad that I missed vol. 1, that one called me the most. It was so versatile! Apparently I'm not a fan of monochromatic palettes (except when it is a mini). And also I feel that vol. 2 is a little too big, I definitely don't need so many pinky red shades when I barely use that in my own collection.😔

I don’t get why he chose this color story. Usually Manny‘s palettes were quite balanced, but this one is just very one note. And the packaging is just the same design in a different color… idk, this isn’t it.

Hard agree. The original has a more original color story and while not a tiny size, it's still very reasonable. The vol. 2 I feel like I could get the colors I really love from it from a number of other palettes, and I don't need them all together in one palette. It feels like it's following Huda and Colourpop and J* in the doing palettes of basically one color family. Even with fewer shades I still prefer vol 1

I love the eye look!! I understand the frustration when they darkest shade in the palette isn't a matte!! BTW it totally looked like you had only one shade on the lower lash line!!

I definitely regret not getting the original. Not much, but definitely a regret. Vol 2, although pretty, its too monochromatic for a palette that size, in my opinion. Also Ive seen a few reviews where the opinion was mixed or shocked that it wasnt as good as the previous ones. So its a pass for me.

Hi Amy. I ordered mine on launch day. I bought the palette, the 2 lip glosses and the blush palette. So, I can tell a difference in the formula; I swatched my original Life's a Drag/Face-lift, Greek Goddess, Strawberry Dream, Moonspell Vol. 1 and Eternal Eclipse and it felt different compared to those (I own all of his palettes). I felt some shades could have gone deeper (the mid-tone browns and pinky shades) could have been replaced. The black with sparkles could've gone too. Blah. . . I was able to make a few lovely looks but I am saddened on the change in formulation. I hope Manny MUA is able to get the formulation down pat in the PRC labs/manufacturers. 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

Hi Amy.. You are doing a comparison from Vol1 to Vol 2.. ,I was just wondering why didn't you do any eye with both.. meaning vol 1 on one eye and vol 2 on the other.. I think that you would feel the difference texture .. if any and how each shadow from each palette feels . Just wondering.

I haven't been too excited by swatches and looks I've seen. I've enjoyed my Vol 1, and if he had gone with the same size palette and number of shadows, I would have picked it up, but really dislike that it's bigger than Vol 1. There were other Lunar Beauty palettes I eventually wanted to pi k up, but now I'm worried that the formula will be changed to produce them in PRC.

I HATE that it is bigger than vol. 1! And I am so saddned about the formular change. He had some of the very best mattes. Oh well, it just saves me money because this November is crazy with great releases! ‘Strawberry Moon’ is still one of my all time favorite palettes. Love from Denmark ♥️

The first palette is one of my favorites ever if only because of the aesthetic and color story... When I saw there was a Vol. 2 I was so excited but honestly I'm so bummed at how monochromatic and not unique it is. :(

I bought vol.2 because I missed out on vol.1, and because I loved eternal eclipse and the formula. I didn't know that he'd changed factories until now, but I did notice that the formula had changed when I first swatched it and assumed it was due to the colour pigments. I dont own a pink/purple palette so this definitely adds to my collection. But I honestly don't think I'll purchase another palette from the brand if they continue with this formula. It's nice but it's not as nice as his previous palettes, which is such a shame cos I really wanted to love this palette too.

There are to many similar mattes and not enough deep tones. And it bugs me to no end it is bigger than the first one😂😩 But if he puts out a third one next year and I want to buy that I will go insane if I don’t have this one 🤣 It’s stupid, I know. His best palette in my opinion is ‘Strawberry Moon’. It is amazing.

The first one has greens & teals & bronzes plus a few purples. This new palette looks very different to me. I don't why he added another row of shadows to this palette, from your swatches all the purples & a few of pink-berry shades looked very similar & could have been edited.

I bought it because....FOMO🤣 I may live to regret that! Your look is so beautiful, but you shouldn't have needed another palette for depth. Manny said he went with manufacturing in China to keep the palette cost the same as his other palettes. Personally, I would pay more for the prior formula.

I think some of the shimmers in the original Moonspell were pressed really hard and we’re never creepy to begin with. Mainly the far left middle row and there was another one I can’t think of off the top of my head.

I highly recommend Inglot's Duraline to restore the shimmers. Just a drop or two will rehydrate them. If you have some hard pan going on, a piece of packing tape pressed on the hard section of shadow can help lift the hard bits. I'm going to check my Moon Spell palette since it's been a while since I have used it. 🙂
