He’s pretty widely accepted by the cultures he’s influenced by. Often collaborating and performing alongside traditional Tuvan throat singers and pre-columbian Mexican singers. He’s even been awarded “great innovator of Tuvan throat singing” by the Tuvan Nation Kargyraa competition. Maybe try to accept that culture can be shared and explored with respect. Things aren’t always simply appropriation or theft because of a persons ancestry. I’m not trying to insult you, I just think your base reaction is a little ill informed. Despite your most likely good intentions, I find some of these cultural appropriation arguments to be a little shallow as they tend to ignore how different cultural relationships can develop outside of colonial exploitation. Many people have a desire to share their traditions, and I do not see the student of those cultural exchanges as purely exploitative until they cross certain lines.
