'Fractured' is the 2017 album from one of Europe’s most captivating and experimental songwriters, RIVERSIDE's creative force Mariusz Duda.
New album 'Under the Fragmented Sky' announced www.kscopemusic...
Lunatic Soul is Mariusz Duda, the talented creator, singer and multi-instrumentalist behind some of the finest and most captivating progressive music coming from Europe, including his output on UK label Kscope and with Poland's shooting stars Riverside. Duda is now releasing his fifth and long-awaited album Fractured - an album of catharsis after a challenging year in his personal life.
Mariusz explains that "the main theme of "Fractured" is coming back to life after a personal tragedy. It's inspired by what happened in my life in 2016 and by everything that's happening around us and what's making us turn away from one another and divide into groups, for better and for worse. Musically it's the most original album I have ever made… it will be the most accessible album in the LS discography."
As well as a conceptual development, Duda gained the self-confidence for greater creative audacity on the new material, experimenting more with electronics and rhythm and inspirations evident from Massive Attack and Depeche Mode to Peter Gabriel and David Sylvian. Fractured features Poland's Sinfonietta Consonus Orchestra on two of the album's most personal tracks and saxophonist Marcin Odyniec who first worked with Duda in Riverside.
The album was recorded in Poland at Serakos Studio and Custom 34 Studio, mixed by Magda & Robert Srzedniccy and Mariusz Duda, and the artwork was created by the renowned cover artist Travis Smith, whose previous work includes the likes of Opeth & Riverside. This version of Fractured is available as a CD presented in a digipack packaging complete with an extensive booklet.

@@waveoflight we all have choices. When something happens, do we deny what we experience? *If we accept what we experience, do we choose to allow our fear to make a cage or our courage to set us free. The only illusion there is, I believe, is that innocence is absent of wisdom. No one can stop us from what is our inheritance. However it is too scary because of how simple it is. What did you choose?

I found this today, and I am blown away. To express how this music has made me feel, I can only quote one of the best there has ever been. I feel like a boy in cave find a true wonder and amazement. "What can this strange device be? When I touch it, it gives forth a sound It’s got wires that vibrate, and give music What can this thing be that I found? See how it sings like a sad heart And joyously screams out its pain Sounds that build high like a mountain Or notes that fall gently, like rain. I can’t wait to share this new wonder The people will all see its light"

You can say that I belong to All the moments That I couldn't let Sink into my oblivion You can say that I'm yearning For something that's already gone But I'm not a prisoner I want to feel what it's like When sorrow turns into strength I want to feel what it's like When there's no screeches in my head You can say that I'm chasing Something that is unattainable So you know my way to survive You can say that I'm surrounded By the ruins of my previous life But I am not a prisoner I want to feel what it's like When sorrow turns into strength I want to feel what it's like When there's no screeches in my head I want to feel what it's like When dreams of mine don't leave a mark On my battered heart You can say that I belong to All the moments That I couldn't let Sink into my oblivion You can say that I am yearning For something that's already gone But I am not a prisoner I want to feel what it's like When sorrow turns into strength I want to feel what it's like When there's no screeches in my head I want to feel what it's like When dreams of mine don't leave a mark I want to feel what it's like When what I lost comes back to life To heal my battered heart A thousand shards of heaven Staring at the stars A thousand shards of heaven Drinking coldness from the night I collect my story Under the fragmented sky Traveling through my wasteland Praying for the rain to come I need your every tear to save my life I need your every tear to save my life
