agreed. I worked at a charter school that was able to give kids healthy lunches (whole grain turkey wraps with low fat cheese for example instead of hot dogs and cheese burgers my school did) only low sugar cereals (corn flakes instead of frosted flakes, cheerios were okay but no fruit loops) they found a way to make it work with same budget as the local public schools!

@overlordpichu557710 күн бұрын
@@littlesongbird1 most charter schools in the united states operate on a for profit basis. public school funding meanwhile is solely dependent on government budgets and local property taxes. which is more so the issue really. some schools likely do serve good meals, but its likely schools that are already in wealthier districts or receive outside funding. schools in poorer districts or otherwise strapped for cash will likely have no other option but to resort to lunchables as a means of tightening their financial belts. there are also other considerations of course, like time and staff or location. a school that has ready access to fresh ingredients on mass and has hired enough dedicated staff with the time and resources to prepare the meals for their student body, vs a school who has no dedicated staff to prepare meals and no ready access to fresh food and thus have to rely on more off the shelf processed stuff. etc.

@lennymice22615 ай бұрын
@@galaxyvulture6649 Quite the contrary actually. California's limits are stupidly strict. The highest amount of lead found in Lunchables was 0.37 micrograms, which is nothing. You'll find more lead than that in a serving of fruit. This is all much ado about nothing.
@galaxyvulture66495 ай бұрын
@@lennymice2261 None of the kits exceeded legal or regulatory limits, but five of 12 tested products would expose someone to 50% or more of California's maximum allowable amount of lead, or cadmium heavy metals that can cause developmental and other problems in kids, CR found. A 3.2-ounce Turkey and Cheddar Cracker Stackers Lunchables held 74% of California's level allowed for lead, and 49% of the daily recommended sodium for 4- to 8-year-olds. Other products tested by CR were found to contain lesser amounts of both lead and sodium. "The kits provide only about 15% of the 1,600 daily calories that a typical 8-year-old requires, but that small amount of food puts them fairly close to the daily maximum limit for lead," stated Eric Boring, a CR chemist who led the testing. "So if a child gets more than half of the daily limit for lead from so few calories, there's little room for potential exposure from other foods, drinking water or the environment." "We don't think anybody should regularly eat these products, and they definitely shouldn't be considered a healthy school lunch," said Boring. Also your lying about fruit since I just googled and it said the highest is 0.1 and the mean is 0.02. Also you gotta consider how small lunchables packages are so that's even worse. Imagine eating two packs of that garbage.
