What a cute video. I like seeing updates and Ruach is adorable. As far as him being gaited… I have a gaited horse and have spent several years trying to identify when he is and isn’t gaiting. It can be a real learning curve! One of the best tips I’ve gotten is listening to the beat. It will usually sound distinctly different from the sound of a walk or a trot, depending on the type of gait. My horse is a MFT so his sounds like someone is playing an instrument on jazz time (if you know anything about music, haha). I’ve also ridden a TWH and his gait sounded like a weird, really sped-up walk. And then, of course, filming him and watching the footage in slow motion is your best friend!

He’s doing really good! One tip tho is to not back up. When you send him out on the lounge you try to create distance by backing up, wich is instead inviting him into your space. And you again try to create distance but instead your inviting him but also pushing him away at the same time, hence the confusion on his part. Instead either hold your ground or even go forward on the circle if you have a hard time remembering your footposition. Good luck 😇🙌🏼

I saw the colt you were lunging for the first time and was like "She doesn't ride Tucker the pony anymore?". Then I read another comment where he was supposed to be the husband horse. You are so fortunate to have a spouse that supports you. Mine just tells my horses all the time how he wants to make hamburgers of them.

It's actually not hard on their joints. Have you ever seen colts gallop and trot in the field? It's actually good for them to start young.

Shaking the rope to back up is a pretty bad way to teach back up because the raise their head while a proper back up is with their head down I also think Ruach could benefit with some positivity reinforcement training methods when it comes to his feet

Can you post a video of him moving faster? This will help pick out if he is gaited. Many gaitted horses can trot as well. Check out Ivy Starns. She has some really great videos on gaited horses.

Not meaning to critiquing u at not all to be like your wrong at all. But to be honest from view on camera he looks like mayb he prior was mayb being worked with at liberty more so, cuz looked like he was reacting crazy guys to every tiny movement u did, cuz wen you said he's confused cuz he keeps wanting to step in to me, but when he did that, your feet actualy stepped backward a step wich in many liberty trainings asks for them to step in n also steping in front of the drive line n back asks for em to turn in but mayb its the cameras angle but looked like mayb that was it to me. Mayb dono wasn't there just going off what it looks like in camera.

That’s not just in liberty it’s basic body language. When you step back you create a free space with no pressure and invite the horse to go there automatically 🙌🏼😁
