Lupin the Third Collection - Part Three: TV Series

The third part of my Lupin the Third collection.
Lupin the Third TV series collection on DVD and Blu-ray.

Admire my lack of editing skills too.
Abrupt cuts and really bad video and audio quality as I had to switch to using my phone to film this and the following parts.
Also, swearing. Old habits die hard.

I should inform ye matey, if ye ever consider gettin' the pink jacket series. DON'T GET THE DVD BOX FROM 2002!!! I learned the hard way. Even though the front cover, Discs, and Main Menu all be in English. The Episodes don't have any subtitles. Don't know why, and in fact I be very angry that they don't. The blu ray release has got subtitles. So get that.

@@chudders I appreciate it matey. I'd hate for landlubbers to meet the same level o' annoyance as I felt. Thankfully I can still enjoy the series since it mostly be visual gags. But it still be a nuisance that I can't understand what people be sayin.

Nice Lupin collection! Not sure if you are aware but Discotek Media have announced a complete collection blu ray of Part III (Pink Jacket) due out in August this year and the first half of Part 5 blu ray will be getting a release in the Fall

Thanks. Yeah, I heard the announcement for Part III and Part 5. Anime Limited has the license for Part 5 here in the UK so I'm waiting on that. I'll more than likely be picking up the Part III collection too so I can have a legit release of it.

Castle o' Cagliostro be me first introduction to Lupin the Third. Then I found meself searchin for every movie and series me and the lads could get our hands on. These videos be an awesome guide to what releases o' the series be out there. Thank ye me hearty.

Red jacket is the perfect series for me you got dark and sad episodes like the one we’re jigen is betrayed by a woman he loves the one where zenigata falls in love only to have that love killed and of course the two parter were Lupin has to help an old flame who’s being brainwashed by a nazi and you have plenty of cartoony episodes like ice robot it’s the perfect blend of what makes Lupin great and although I’m not done watching it yet I think it’s the essential Lupin series!

I do have the other release of the green jacket series you mentioned. It pretty much be the episodes on their own. And the final episode be the pilot film. What extras do the discotek version have?

You get both versions of the Pilot Film (TV and theatrical), audio commentaries on select episodes (I can't remember which particular episodes they are), and notes and an essay written on the series. I would definitely pick this one up if you're able, if for nothing else but to have both versions of the Pilot Film. I was curious to know what the other release had in term of features compared to the one I have.

Essentially the release o' Lupin Part 1 I have be just the episodes with English subtitles spread across three discs, and apparently the TV version o' the pilot film as episode 24. It be fine and dandy if all ye want be the episodes. But I might try to track down the discotek version ye got as well. BTW if ye don't have Part 5 yet, I'd recommend ye get the box set o that. I've been told it contains the TV Special "Is Lupin Still Burning?!!!" As well as the episodes.

But the company we have over in the UK, All The Anime, have the distribution right for the series here and will hopefully release it here soon. Although, I might grab the box set you mentioned that includes the TV special. I can't say for sure if they be releasing Part 5 over here with the special or not. Thank you for the info!

@@chudders No problem me hearty. If yer wonderin about the general plot o' the series btw. It basically be Lupin III in the 21st Century. So he has to deal with modern technology which makes his heists much more difficult. (It be askin' the question, "Are Gentleman Thieves out of date.) Not to mention there be several episodes that be possesin' lots o' love and reverence to everythin' that came before it. There be a pink jacket story that be a love letter to part 3, A green Jacket story thay be a love letter to part 1, and 3 red jacket stories. Not to mention several character and location cameos. Such as Rebecca from part 4, and Castle Cagliostro.

There also be some nods to the Manga as well me hearty. Like "Mama & the Union" make a cameo in episode 2-5 (Ep 1-5 be a five part story)

@@chudders Glad to hear it matey. Yer vids be the place I send people if they be unsure weather certain copies o' Lupin DVDs be better than other ones. P.s. Watched Green Vs. Red the other day. I can see what ye mean about it bein' underwhelmin'. It be like it were playin with the idea that there be no true Lupin III, and the character were always someone else simply wearin' his face. Like he were always a simbol rather than a man 'imself. (Which I weren't too fond of.) I think the twist at the end o' Part 5 be better and twists with yer mind more.

@@captaindemobeard9560 Oh, thank you! I'll un-private the video for now then, until I get the updated video put together. I can see what they were trying to do with Green Vs Red. Kind of reminded me of some of the ideas that were put forward for the original Gold of Babylon (that were adapted into ideas used in Angels Egg and the first Patlabor movie) We're still waiting on the release of Part 5 in the U.K, so hopefully we'll have it here before the year is out.
