Lurching Prop Fix

I have a little zombie girl on a rocking horse prop that stopped rocking. It uses the exact same motor/gear box. I took it apart just as you showed and sure enough the same gear was split exactly as you showed. I just ordered a new gear, actually 50 of them on Amazon for $6.49 lol. Thanks a ton!!

Thanks for the mention, happy to help when I can. I've since found you can get more specific than the grab bags with the gears, especially useful if you have a lot of props. The numbering system they use would make that gear you have an 82A, which can be bought from the same sources like ebay. The number breaks down like this: 82A = 8 teeth, for a 2mm shaft, A = slightly undersize to fit tight on shaft a B = the hole is slightly oversize to spin easily on a shaft. The 10tooth version used in the motor shafts would be 102A and easily found as well. You can by 50 from China for about $2.50 P.S. An 81.5A would be the 8 tooth drive gear for a 1.5mm dia motor shaft.

This looks like the exact mechanism for my lunging reaper from Home Depot which stopped lunging this year. Hopefully with your video I can get operational again. It’s one of our favourite props. Thanks ! * update - got the new gear ( although the center opening was a tad smaller I drilled it out enough to fit )and following your instruction I fixed it. Good to go for another Halloween season 🎃👍🏿

Thanks sooo much for this. My raper hasn’t been lunging for 2 years and I was dying to fix it. Didn’t see the baby gear was broken at first until I watched your video and opened it back up!! Fingers crossed a new piece will get him lunging again!!! 🤞

Hey man, so I just took my box apart like your video and it’s fringing missing the 2 bottom rods to hold the gears in place right next to the smallest gear you were talking about. Any clue where I could get them and what size they would be? Thanks

Hi I have the Halloween lurching werewolf and lent it stupidly to someone who has a bar. It looks like he had it on constant for five days. He brought it back and there is power going to it but nothing is moving, no sound absolutely nothing going on? Do you think that the motor is burnt out? How do I get a replacement motor?

Replace it with a superior motor. The cheap motors you get in these props fry easily.

Ok, now I know what’s wrong with my reaper, that’s strange because props by this company aren’t known for getting split gears, mainly Gemmy ones

I have the Angel of Death reaper with wings, it's gear split. Sad part is they used a non standard motor shaft gear 10 teeth 2mm, but only 4.75mm dia instead of the usual 6mm dia. I'm having a tough time finding one.

hello scuba, great video, very entertaining and educational! not sure if you would answer this but i have a few animatronics, you know the cheap crappy ones from home depot, but they are all the same with motion detector or button to activate. my question is how or what do i need to have one of my crappy animatronics activate using a smart plug, be wonderful if i can turn it on withing my smart plug app...appreciate the feedback.

HELP! I know that I need the 8tooth gear but on the lurching reaper, is it a 2mm or 1.5mm shaft? I am confused.

@@FurbyRestorer any chance you can help me find the right gear for my Freddy Krueger animatronic from 2011? It looks like 60+ teeth with a smaller gear under it with a spring. It connect to the shoulder and makes the shoulder move up and down

Didn't look like that metal gear was mating well at all. I reckon after a while it will dork up the gear right next to it.

You may want to check the micro switch inside of the casing. It has 2 wires leading to it.
