DPfishing Thanks, you can have some great fun if you go light instead of chucking out a bunch of Mackerel feathers.

Lovely mate!! I’m looking forward to my first lure fishing season this year!!

Thanks. I really enjoy my HRF/LRF, the beaches get busy in the summer months around here, so l can't always use the big rods and its a great way to spend a few hours in the evening.

Cracking video. Thinking of coming down East Devon next September for a week instead of southern Eire for a change.

Phil B cheers, there's some good fishing around East Devon, from Seaton down to the Exe estuary.

Robert Mortimore It's a Savage gear Finezze 5-21gram, paired with a Diawa Freams 2500 and loaded with 20lb braid. It's my main rod for all my lure fishing and can handle big Bass and Wrasse.

@@TedGreenBeachFishing Ive got a Savage Gear Custom UL 7ft 3 ins 9-10 grams that I use on Tiverton Canal...Its a drop shotting rod but I use it with lures for pike...Not really my thing but gets me out in the winter...Cant get near the Grayling cause the rivers high most of the time...You ever find the need for reels with back drag....Im going to get some gear for the waters around like you do....Theres a lot of mullet at Countess Weir Id love to catch one....Keep the vids coming mate

Robert Mortimore you can use that set up (Dropshot) from breakwaters, piers etc. Exmouth docks being a good start to have ago for Wrasse, Pollack, Bass and mini species. As long as you've got a decent drag on your reel.

How far out can you cast the lure?
@TedGreenBeachFishing6 жыл бұрын
eddzoid with my set up, about 40 to 50 meters if the wind is off shore, that's why I like using metal lures, so I can get a bit of distance. If l was using soft plastics for Wrasse or Bass then it'll be about 30 meters, again depending on the wind direction.

I might give Budleigh another try. Been there 3 times since I've been living in Devon and blanked 3 times. I always tend to just head back to where I'm from and fish Cogden, bridging camp etc on Chesil but it's a long drive!

paulockleford I really only fish in the East Devon area, mainly LRF and Lure fishing in the summer and back on the beach rods through spring, autumn and winter. There are a few good spots around here that produce some cracking fish so I don't travel far now either but like most things, a bit of luck and local knowledge helps, cheers.
