If you lift the rod when you have a fish on the bending of the rod keeps the line tight and makes it less likely the fish will shake off the hook.

@@8000marc access to the beach is fine all tides but the actual rocks you can't get on if it's high, I cmgot caught out and got wet but so keep an eye
