Got stuck for ages in bad mt32 emulation until I read that you used the C32L Roms. NOW that's more like it.

I never managed to get this working. This way it sounds so much better, it can not even be compared.

This may be due to the instruments palette not changing within ScummVM MT-32 emulation. I noticed in Dosbox/Munt there is a short break after the farmers' picture presumably due to the MT-32/CM-32l reconfiguring itself for new instrumentation patterns that doesn't happen in the crappy sounding ScummVM mt-32 version. ScummVM is great and easy most times, but it's a pity they seem to be stuck with some bugs providing inferior gameplay for some of the games that obviously nobody is bothering to work on for ages by now. So I know this problem from LotT. The other ScummVM game I know of that has MT-32 emulation problems for ages by now and should be played on Dosbox instead is Cruise for a Corpse. Scumm doesn't support its MT-32 music. It would be interesting if there is a list out there with other games you should toss ScummVM for dosbox regarding MT-32 (or General MIDI) issues. It took me a while to notice that LutT doesn't actually have music that sucks badly but that I've really just run into a ScummVM compatibility problem. Does anyone know more cases/games or perhaps has a link to a complete list of cases like this?

The only example I can think of the top of my head is a less severe example regarding Day of the Tentacle using some CM-32L exclusive SFX if you didn't have soundblaster enabled. These effects do not get emulated properly in ScummVM version of Munt. Then again this is not quite as bad as with the games you mentioned. DOTT has no missing or inferior sound effects with soundblaster from what I recall. Unfortunately I don't know of a complete list or any other specific examples of buggy MT-32 music/sound , I would like to know aswell if there are more games with this issue in ScummVM.

@@Artigkar40000000 Ok, thanks a lot for answering. Maybe some wise old gaming wizards who know more about this than both of us will show up, read this and answer here in this thread at some point in the future... Another thing is: I sometimes don't know if the built-in ScummVM Munt really provides the best possible MT-32 emulation for each game. I noticed in Monkey Island 2 and The 7th Guest that you get somewhat different sounds & effects at times if you program ScummVM to use your standalone Windows Munt instead of the integrated Munt of ScummVM. I didn't play much of these games so far, so I can't say how bad it really is. For example, at the start of MI2, when you have to choose light or complete version of the game, ScummVM-Munt will have some odd hall/reverb effect on the sound that pops up when you click the tab that standalone munt will not use. This is by itself of course a ridiculously irrelevant issue. But it reduces my trust in that Scumm-Munt quite a bit as I'm not sure if inaccuracies like this won't increase later in the game I want to play within ScummVM.
