How to replace headlight bulb on Mini R50 R53 2000-2006 First Generation.
How to change headlight bulb on Mini 2000-2006 First Generation R50 R53.
How to change the Headlight bulb on a BMW Mini 2000-2006 First Generation R50 R53.
Headlight Bulb is H7 12V 55W 2 PIN.
This is a simple job to do.
Headlight is the 'Dipped Beam' for night time driving, not the Main Beam which is the super bright one for long distance.
There are various different types such as Halogen or Xenon so make sure you change both unless its the same type.

Great video regarding the mini but very disappointed there wasn't more instruction on the tea. Looked great. Perfect colour etc. I've never made tea for changing a mini headlight so not sure what the story is. Please beat this in mind for next time mate. Thanks though

I wouldn’t use LED as they can play havoc with your cars computers and dashboard. Best off getting replacement bulbs. You will find them and any local car parts place. Good luck

I would love to but unfortunately the Mini is no longer with me. Yes they did work. You should be able to trace the wiring and see where they go, they should be wired up to the headlight wiring loom I guess.

Jordi Huijnen I don't have this car anymore but I do remember the whine noise when running, I believe it's a common issue and is a whine from the gearbox and nothing to worry about.

Thank you Lurgs, it helped me couldn't even find bonnet release (not my car hasten to add) Don't know how you filmed it upside down. Bit tricky but done it (Many Garages tend to charge around £20 for this job - minimum charge squire !) Regards, G - (took me ½ hour but 15 minutes was making a brew as it seemed essential part to do job ? Only trouble with your video was you showed the nearside bulb and it was the offside on mine that was out, so had to play the video in a mirror to get it right.

I do it myself too... Is very easy. Never made this before or watching a movie to see it how is done. Is my first car. In general, mini cooper is easy to replace some of parts.

My drivers sides' silver trim casing for bottom fog lamp has mysteriously gone missing (stolen maybe? as i cant see how it has just fell off?), so before i buy a replacement , i just want to know if its a simple job or not? It is Clipper Tea, organic and paper only tea bags, not horrible ones with plastic in them. And just a small bit of semi skimmed milk so it's nice and strong, no sugar needed. Glad I could help and what tea do you drink and milk\sugar?

It should be exactly the same procedure. Just remember to change both bulbs on each side and wear a glove. As long as the fitment is the same it should be straightforward.

Hi, I have a 2005 Mini Cooper 1.6L SOHC and there isn't a retention lever to help pull out my H7 headlight bulb. I tried searching for a solution but only got answers on how to replace it if I had said clip. What do I do?

Maybe you already solved. Bulb clip on some r50s are different. If I got no clip to remove u just need to pull the bulb down from its pins and it came off quite easy. Just done in this moment

My 2006 mini r50 Park Lane has a completely different clip. We cannot get it off at all :(

BillieJo Lee Make sure bulbs haven't blown, if they look ok it must be a wiring or plug fault. Sometimes the figments wear so make sure bulbs sit in there nice and tight. Good luck
