TOTA makes great broadheads and this one would probably do well on feral hogs. I was impressed with the overall design and performance. Great Job on Testing!

I love the idea of this head, but 1" is a little to small for my taste. I used a crimson talon clever on a doe yesterday. It was a high double lung hit and she went down fast. That is also a small head and I am not sure if 1/16" makes a difference or not but in my mind it does! I would love to see this head made 1 1/4" wide! Great job once again.
@RngrfromtheMtns Жыл бұрын
same...I switched to clevers from Magnus Stingers and wish they were a bit wider. I'm considering the crocs though they also seem too wide. 1-1/4 seems to be where I want to be for cutting diameter
@LuskArcheryAdventures Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I feel the same, Chris. When I think of the difference 1/16" makes, I consider it this way: How would I feel about a 1/16" wide razor cutting thru my body? Every little bit makes a difference.
@chrisfitch2905 Жыл бұрын
Shot another doe this morning, used the exact same arrow and broadhead. 20 yard shot double lung. she only made it 45 yards. No blood trail found, but I was hunting from the ground. That usually makes for a tough trail with any head. Overall I like the cleavers but I really do want one in 1 1/4" cut LOL.@@LuskArcheryAdventures
@chrismuhlbeier6948 Жыл бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures 100%. I like to think of it as a percentage - 1/16" more on this head is 12.5% more cut. Their 4b is nearly the same thing as shooting the animal twice in the same spot rotated 90. The rotation counts for something though - though to quantify in real life. I'd be interested to see how much John sees in Hogs, etc.

A very impressive design for use on heavy boned large game. The heavy rotation helps equalize the smaller cut diameter

Got 3 of these ordered. My primary complaints with a variety of heads I’ve shot is that they are noisy in flight, and they are not shooting with my field tips. High hopes for these being a very simple and very effective option.

Great video again . John there was a company that made a similar head way back and i had them and killed a buck with them. They were also 1inch cut with a wedge shaped chisel front! I saw them at the ATA show and what impressed me was there were hammering them into steel pipe! I hit that buck perfect at 17 yards and it expected him to go 20 yards but he made it over 100! One inch with a single blade is a no go for me. I will try to see if i can find the head and at least send you a picture of it!

Thanks for the review! Really tempted to pick up a package of these, could be ideal on elk and moose. Only concerns I have is the potential lack of blood trail with the small cut size and the lack of forgiveness if you make a marginal hit.

Would be interesting to see what the sharpness is of the surviving broadheads after the concrete test!!
@LuskArcheryAdventures Жыл бұрын
Yeah, most of them won't cut the wire, but just break if off the posts...cause they've already gone thru the MDF 3 times and sheet metal 2 times...and into the target each of those times as well. Then the concrete.

I been waiting on this since. I told u about them. My crossbow shoots the 100 gr vent xl broadhead good. I want to goto a solid broadhead. Like the 100 gr solid or the solid xl. But i been looking at these since they came out. My crossbow shoot 400 fps . I seen a few test where a blade broke off. On the vent models. I bought some knock offs. Of the 100 gr ozcut 2 blade fixed blade. Didnt read too close on them. I had to sharpen them. 100 gr was that way. My crossbow shooting a 465 gr arrow/broadhead setup. Has alot of KE in it. Would u just stick with the 4 blade ? Or try these out? I know they should punch through a deer shoulder up close. But i was looking for broadhead. To use on deer and hogs. Only thing i dont like is the 1 inch cut.
@LuskArcheryAdventures Жыл бұрын
For a crossbow, I'd use a much larger cutting head, like a TOTA Solid XL or a tough mechanical.
@ozark_trapper Жыл бұрын
@@LuskArcheryAdventures i wanted too use the S XL. But the guys at TOTA broadheads. Said it wouldn't shoot out of a crossbow. So i went too the vent xl. But he said it would shoot the regular S model in the 1 inch.

Just my opinion, but a broadhead that takes more than 200g of force from factory is a fail in my book. I've seen too many heads get in 150-175 range to accept 200+ let alone almost 300.
@LuskArcheryAdventures Жыл бұрын
Well, not too difficult to get them much sharper.
@jasonsparks4601 Жыл бұрын
Offense but your test scores are misleading after you have told us the broadhead can be sharpened to 80some on the cutting score but then its tested at 3 times as dull....out of the box scores would be totally different from sharpened to 80ish inchlbs......
@PersonalBestOutdoors Жыл бұрын
I think you missed an important piece of the comprehension pie, friend. The broadhead CAN be sharpened to 87 with the staysharp guide c. However, they don't come out of the box from manufacturing that sharp. This is what he is grading. The manufacturer's out of the box sharpness. Not it's potential. Many people open a pack, screw them on the arrow, and take them hunting.
@LuskArcheryAdventures Жыл бұрын
Well, I showed how sharp they were from the factory. Then I referenced how Stay Sharp Guide has a video showing them getting sharpened by hand to 87. Nothing misleading about that.
