I was a member of the UofA pep band during college, my freshman year lute came to our rehearsal before the season started and he thank us for being the most supportive group of the basketball team he took time to meet each one of us in the band and i still have a signed team poster from that day. I recall how kind and graceful he was to a bunch band geeks and found out he was a tuba player back in the day. what a talented person. i loved that before every game we would say hi to lute as the band and he would always wave at us in return. thank you lute for making us a part of the team. wildcats forever. bear down!

LUUUUUUUTE! I don't feel I'm overstating it to say that my life was better because of Lute Olson. From the time I was a young teenager, through my 20s and into my late 30s, my life revolved around Arizona basketball. It was more than just a diversion... It was pure passion and joy. Even as fans, we felt like an extension of the team. All those amazing players, all the accomplishments... We have Lute to thank. For all his greatness, he was always humble, willing to treat you with respect and that huge smile when you met him in person. I was in the crowd at this tribute ceremony. Wouldn't have missed it for anything. I'm still pretty stunned by how few people came out to pay tribute to the #1 sports figure in Tucson history, but I guess I understand that having a one year delay since his passing made it less relevant for some people. It's a shame, because he deserved every seat to be filled, just as they were when he patrolled the sidelines. In any event, thank you so much Coach O. You will forever be the best. Bear Down!!!!!!!

I grew up in Mayville, North Dakota. The basketball culture was huge there. We're very proud that Lute is from Mayville. I read a story that said he sang in the church choir... and met his wife Bobbi there. He was a well-rounded person. That comes from Mayville where music and sports are pretty much on equal ground.

Was great to see Coach Ros is OK. He was great. I would have liked to see Sean Elliot speak. I do think Sean was a huge key to Lute’s early success at AZ and as someone that attended U of A when Sean played the importance of keeping a hometown Cholla Charger at Arizona was awesome.

I’ll always remember Lute Olson especially when he gave me that same ol’ smile when he held me as a baby and I smiled back the time growing up watching Lute and remembering all the great players he coached at Arizona was a blessing I still remember meeting some of those great players and giving Lute that same smile again as he did the same thing. When he left us I was shocked but he did have a great life seeing his picture it does hurt, it does hurt but I always know he’s always up there in heaven looking down at us and being with in us everyday especially on game day. Miss you Lute Olson. #BEARDOWN
