2023 UPDATE: That part of the video did become redundant! The Luton DART is now open. Getting there out of the terminal, you follow the signs left to the DART station. A single on the DART itself is a bit more expensive than the old bus shuttle though! Everything else is the same! Also, feel free to check out my other airport guides for Heathrow, Luton, Stansted, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Athens, Bristol and London City Airports on my channel!! kzbin.info/aero/PL_FlwPbvHj4CYiLKFAFmN2e0WOVNHC9kd&si=hNdeY_EY6vA9axBI

Ye, i was surprised about how expensive, given the time and distance, this service is.

Good to hear about the DART service between Luton Airport and Luton Parkway. I've only used Luton Airport twice and even with just one small carry-on bag and a medium-sized suitcase, it was a grind navigating the bus to the station.

Great video mate. Can I just use my contactless card (GarminPay, ApplePay whatever) on the shuttle bus, then on the rail, THEN on the tube and it would basically cap at 13,90? That is what a planner suggests.

Thanks for the very useful information. Once me and my family arrived into Luton we had no issues finding the transfer bus and fastest train for Central London. Even had other people asking me if they were waiting at correct platform for the fast train. 😂. Thanks again. You should do a video on the Luton Dart (when running).

I'm traveling in a month from the Netherlands via Luton to London, with wife & child. Isn't it more convenient and even cheaper when you are not alone, just to get a taxi or Uber down to London?
@ikhan3311 Жыл бұрын
It is indeed,Taxi is direct into the city where as train if your with a family you will have to keep changing bus to train then at st Pancras you will have to hop on a tube bus or cab

Great video! When I visited London, we flew into Gatwick, so I have experience taking Thameslink to St. Pancras. And I agree, the seats were comfy (especially after an 8 hour flight). One question about the options from Luton: Would it be cheaper and save money to get an EMR train to St. Pancras, then transfer to a Thameslink train to get south of London, i.e. places outside the Tube network's reach?
@SomeoneExplores2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Hmmmm, I'd say probably, if the prices are different. If not, then take which is easier. I tend to normally get a ticket with my Railcard to St. Pancras then Oyster card it to wherever, but you just gotta check around haha! The Single Fare Finder is your best friend, but ofc you can't put a Railcard discount on a contactless card! Sometimes it's easier to go on one of the faster Thameslink services down, then change same platform at St Pancras then off to wherever. Up to you!

Don’t know about Trainpal but I don’t use Trainline as they charge a booking fee. Instead, pick one of the Train Operating Companies’ apps and book all your tickets through them, with no booking fee. I usually use TransPennine Express even for journeys way out of their area such as East Croydon to the Sussex coast.
@HatterDave2 жыл бұрын
As a Luton residen even if you did save money it isn't always worth it EMR trains are only every half hour and only stop at St Pancras. whereas the 'fast' Thameslink services are every 15 minutes and offer more locations that could make interchanging easier (e.g. to get from mainline services to the Underground at St Pancras is a very convoluted route, if you were on a Thameslink train you could go a stop or two further to Farringdon where the mainline and Underground platforms are parallel to one another Handy especially if you've got a load of luggage and/or children with you)
@josephj98282 жыл бұрын
@@HatterDave Thanks for the reply! So what you may save in money with EMR, you'd lose in time waiting (potentially) and additional travel/transfer time in London. Also, with the Elizabeth line opening Tuesday, your suggested interchange at Farringdon will have even more potential travel options.

You dont have to buy tickets, right? You can just use a contactless card? Where is it used? I mean, where do I tap it for example if getting on the bus from the airport? And where is it tapped when getting on a train? Sorry. I'm just scared to make mistakes haha
@SomeoneExplores2 жыл бұрын
On the bus to the station, there's s contactless reader which you just tap when coming, and when you get the train, there's barriers with card readers which you touch in at the start and the end of your rail journey.
