I can confirm that we always make room for more. During summer in the south, we had one van. 5 adults and 10 kids in a van with 7 seats. I had to lay low in the trunk and didn't get any cold air. Another times during sleepovers, we sleep on the floor, on the couch, even in crib beds (out of the crib on the floor.) For an entire year, 6 adults and 7 kids lived in one house. My mom and siblings in one room and aunt and uncle with their kids in 2 other rooms. (Despite having entire families in small rooms, my grandma had the biggest room to herself). In a full/queen bed it was my mom, me (9), older sister (11) and little sister (3).

Haha I'm American but raised by my Mexican family. The chancla was a deadly weapon. The Cucuy would come get you. (Though La Llrorona was used for kids being outside at night. Told to us quite a lot to keep the kids away from the river. or she might grab us and drown us in the river. Saturday morning, 7am. Ranchera music on the radio, means it's time to get up and clean the whole house like the President was going to visit. My Aunt was like this too, but she at least put on Selena music. Vicks cured everything. Upset stomach, rub it on your belly. got a cold? Put it on your feet then wear socks. headache? rub some on your forehead. it's a jar of amazingness. Oh yeah, And one year I got ready to go to the fair, as it was in town and my Nana threw a fit about me going by myself because it wasn't safe for me to go alone. My Uncle had to step up and remind my Nana that I was 22 years old and the fair was only 5 miles from the house. It makes me wonder how my Aunt was allowed to get married when she was 17. She wasn't even pregnant.

And the “la llorona” when our moms say “la llorona is gonna come and get you” thing is what a lot of Hispanic and Mexican moms say to their kids but this girl said no it’s not really used like that.
