Literally got a piece of vegetable stuck in my throat and this was at a pretty happy occasion and my mind was like “crap i cant ruin this for everyone else” so instead of coughing or anything like that I put like half of my hand in my throat and just pulled out the vegetable

Literally felt how Ike feels. At some point after a class like around March last year, I felt a discomfort in my v@ginal area and it moved to the right side of like my gut or something. I told my mom and she was dead worried because I have a very high pain tolerance like barely anything hurts me so had me sent to the ER when I vomited. We thought it was appendicitis but it was a fucking 3kg cyst that had been growing for 6 years and that everytime I had hyper acidity or if I vomited, it was because it was growing so surgery was the key. Traumatizing experience for a 13 year old. 😎 Edit: the pain in my gut was because the cyst was crushing my kidney and the kidney literally turned so small 🥲 idk if its normal now but imma have to check with my doctor

Goodness! I am happy the cause of your discomfort was finally found! 6 years, and finding the cause as an early teenager seems so harsh. Glad that your pain tolerance was being exceeded was a clear indicator that something was DEFINITELY wrong. Hope you’re doing way better now.

something similar happened to me but i was in third grade and instead it was stomach pain. I couldnt move from the pain and i had to LITERALLY crawl out my bed and open the door from my room just to call out for help on the dusty ass floor (and my room was in the second floor of a huge house). Anyways i had a choledocal cyst apparently and had to get it surgically removed, so i missed a whole month of school. I came back to school with a pretty cool wheelchair tho

That also happened to my sister, though not so bad. And the American healthcare system is so bad that my parents literally sat us down and tried to help us accept the fact that my sister might die because the hospital we had insurance for was kind of far away (just to clarify they also thought it was appendicitis at first).

The appendix… OH YEAHHH, I think it was the time in 2014 where I woke up, but I kept vomiting whenever I ate or drank something. I had to be in the emergency room and boy, my whole family was worried. My appendix was surgically removed, probably and I can eat good now. No wonder I somehow related to Ike haha

I remember my dad telling me (and I also remember bits and pieces from then too surprisingly) that when I was around 3-4 years old I had a really bad ear infection and he took me to the ER, but the doctors kept us waiting in the exam room for nearly 2 hours, and I was apparently trying not to cry and trying to keep quiet so not to disturb anyone and my dad felt so bad and he was also so pissed because the doctors were taking so damn long and it wasn’t even busy, and I was also a toddler at the time, so out of pettiness and as a way to get back at them and also get them to hurry up, he told me “honey it’s okay to cry, you can be as loud as you need to” and with that (and THIS is the part I remember most) I just stopped trying to be quiet and let loose and I was wailing like I was on the verge of death or something (I remember crying really hard, but apparently I was VERY VERY LOUD) to the point where it actually made the doctor’s pay attention to me and actually get me help after several hours. Dad was proud of me after that. But jfc I can’t imagine waiting *six freaking hours with appendicitis.* People can literally die of sepsis if the damn thing bursts. Poor Ike, wtf-and I thought the US was bad… 😥😰

I didn't actually had a terrible illness in my life, but there were this once when I was coming back to my city with my aunts in a truck. I was next to an opened window using my phone, and then it fell through the window, and so I jumped through the window to catch my phone ( I know, it was dumb, but I had 12 years old and no friends). The result of that decision was that i broke both my legs and I couldn't do anything within 4 months without help, and by that i mean anything.

Since we're all sharing medical stories in the comments, I'll join in too lol As of writing this, I've been very lucky in the sense that I've managed to avoid any serious health complications. However, I did once get a pretty bad stomach bug of some sort(on my birthday, no less 💀) that resulted in a 104° F fever that I did not go to the hospital for because I didn't know a fever that high was so serious. Once I'd just baaarely started recovering, I figured I was well enough to walk around. I was not. I ended up getting really dizzy, running into a door, and passing out for a second. Made a full recovery in the end, thankfully, and now I like to laugh at the mental image of me just hitting the door like some kind of Looney Tunes character

I've never been prone to illness so I wouldn't say anything super freaking painful but at one point my heart failed? Long story. Anyways, hopefully Mysta would be able to handle drawing attention now. It's (clearly) unhealthy as heck to be afraid of not drawing attention to yourself when you're like, near death or just in pain. Holy crap.

i had apendicitis once too lmao- except i was neglected by the doctors and almost died it took me like 2-3 days to get to hospital because my mom thought i was just sick- so there was i walking with my face on the ground and if i slightly tried to get up it would hurt like hell. i was at bed all day, eating, watching stuff on my TV, bath, go to sleep. So finally i go to the hospital, and they checked me and they thought i was ok and put me to bed for some days until i could figure out what it was(neglected cuz it was obviously apendicitis, if they took longer i wouldve died) got after a while surgery and im fine now :D i just remenber hating the soup and eating a lot of biscuits, also when i finally was sent home i was so excited i went around bouncing on the walls and running around, and forgot i still had recovery to do lol

I ODed when I was a teenager and spent hours in the hospital in pain, puking every 5 minutes, and I wasn't allowed to eat or drink anything. Now I have a phobia of medication/pills and get nauseous at the sound, sight of, or descriptions of people taking them. Even if I'm in serious pain or in recovery from surgery, it has to be liquid or chewable or I won't take it

Back when I was in chorus every year at a certain point of the year I would lose my voice really badly...like, I don't know I would just get freaking laryngitis or something at least once a year--almost always only in the months closer to winter (I was never contagious or anything...which is a good thing because sometimes this lasted for like 2 weeks and sometimes it lasted almost a month...) Without fail once a year this would happen regardless of how well I took care of my voice. There was one year where it got so bad that I started taking a teaspoon, a bottle of honey, and a bottle of lemon juice with me to school to help coat my throat so it wouldn't be as sore and would help it to heal faster. On the bright side during those days I couldn't participate in chorus class (which actually wasn't necessarily the _BIGGEST_ bright side since it was always my favorite...) so I could just sit against the wall in the back of the room and play on my phone since I already knew pretty much all of the material that could be taught without hands on experience (thanks to taking chorus ever since I was old enough in elementary school as well as having had violin lessons in the past...on top of having a musically wired brain that made it so I learn music extremely quickly) and even if I wasn't outright listening I could still follow along with the class. But that's not my most annoying experience.... No...THIS is my most annoying experience ... I went to school and was sent to the nurse after I threw up....the nurse sent me back to class after taking my temperature because "you don't have a fever" ...a few hours later I threw up _AGAIN_ and was sent _BACK_ to the nurse...who _AGAIN_ sent me back because "you don't have a fever" and _THEN_ I threw up _AGAIN_ at recess...and what did the nurse say? "You don't have a fever you can go back to recess" Like, what? An elementary schooler just came to you three times in a day after throwing up thrice...with others to confirm that it wasn't self-inflicted and that they were clearly not feeling well...and you just...send them back each time after just shoving a thermometer in their mouth? Hell, who's to say that I don't have an abnormal body temperature where what would be considered "normal" for most would be considered at least a low-grade fever for me? And I know that it's a meme that the school nurses are useless and will only give you a pack of ice regardless of your symptoms/injuries but honestly? AN ICEPACK ACTUALLY WOULD HAVE BEEN APPRECIATED THIS TIME AT THE VERY LEAST! Anyway....once I finally got home (by bus. No one ever called my parents to pick me up...) and told my grandmother (who's a nurse) what happened she pretty much instantly diagnosed me (correctly) with the flu... And the best part? I'm not even as annoyed that the nurse didn't take me seriously because I wanted to go home (I did and I am but that's not my main reason) no, my _MAIN_ problem is that by not sending me home she potentially put _EVERYONE ELSE WHO WAS AROUND ME AT RISK!_ And after that I absolutely _REFUSED_ to trust school nurses for most of my school life...I wouldn't even let them give me the free flu-shots (ironically) that my middle school offered because I was paranoid that they'd mess it up somehow...I just absolutely _REFUSED_ to go to the school nurses (thankfully this wasn't that hard because I'm usually really healthy) until I got into highschool and was _FORCED_ to go to them because I had to take a 10mg of my ADHD medicine (and later I had to go to them to take my anxiety medicine if I got to anxious...I never did because I was too self-conscious/socially awkward to go by myself...and the one time I had an actual anxiety attack my teacher (who outright said that he read my government mandated paperwork stating that in these situations he was _REQUIRED_ to send me to the nurse to get my medicine...) just asked me if I wanted to wash my face and then just had me go back to class when I said no...never sent me to the nurse...when I went there at lunch (right after his class) to get my ADHD medicine I told the main nurse what happened...and it turns out that she was his older sister. Needless to say, he didn't get away with it. To my knowledge there weren't any punishments from the school but he _DID_ get reprimanded by his sister (who I didn't even know he was related to) and I find that incredibly satisfying) anyway, I had to go to the nurse to get my medicine since my ADHD medicine is a controlled substance...as for my anxiety medicine....I don't know exactly why...it's not a controlled substance and is a PRN that's _SUPPOSED_ to be allowed to be taken without going to the nurse (and I had the necessary paperwork from my doctor) but the school just refused to allow it... needless to say, these were the only school nurses who I actually trusted because they were actually competent.

I just wanna share my experience where they thought I had appendicitis because I have unbearable pain in my lower right abdomen (which is where the appendix is located) and I was vomiting everything that I ate. So my parents have to rush me to the hospital and have to endure the unbearable pain it was so painful to the point that I just wished I would pass out. They injected me with some medicine and finally after 6 hours the pain went away. So the doctor thought that I got a UTI since the result of my urinalysis was I have blood and pus, but still insisted that I get an ultrasound. Which was the best decision cuz after I got the result, I didn't have an appendicitis or a UTI but what I got was a right Ovarian cyst and a kidney stone was located on my right kidney. Thank God that it was still small so I just have to drink medicines and no need for a surgery. That's my painful experience stay hydrated guys. 🥲

That experience made me remember my first time feeling what I thought was my appendix exploded. Went to a Muai Thay courses with my brother for a like a few sessions and one of them was during the intense warm-up intro and I was doing sit ups when, mind you Im that physically fit and obviously hate exercise, did my third rep and suddenly felt my stomach area gutted out like those Fatality moves punching into someone and then ripped their heart out. Couldn't continue and took painkillers immediately, and I only seen the doctor like a few weeks later because schedule and public hospital wait was too long that I don't the pain anymore. During that one month, It still hurts everytime I turn, sit, and move my torso and when I finally met with the doctor, she told me to get ultrasound which took another few weeks later because booking, by then the pain is gone. After the ultrasound tho, they said nothing went wrong but maybe I pulled a muscle or something. Honestly, I flinched everytime I hear someone talking about muscle-related or any physical inducing pain experiences, and I feel yours quite clearly....hope its better now
