Mr. O'Neil is a class act. I remember when Princess Madeleine was set to marry her longtime boyfriend Jonas & he was going to receive the male equivalent of her title. I was all for it. Then it came out he cheated, though it was strongly hinted at when the wedding was "delayed" then cancelled because she was initially marrying a few months after her sister, Victoria. Any other man would insist on a title, but Mr. O'Neil showed he only wanted Madeleine & to be happy. And she's more than happy to do her charity work & move to support his career. I saw an interview they did & they are the most loveable, down to earth couple.

The title Jonas had been Hertig/Duke av/of Hälsingland och Gästrikland, Madeleines dukedom. She hade keep that plus still be Princess of Sweden. I think it's sad that Chris rejected the title, because I think he could do great as a Duke. Special in Hälsingland and Gästrikland. There's kids are princesses and Prince + plus duchesses and Duke of there own landskap (regions but not exactly). I think thats more strange, because now they have been born and have lived outside Sweden. It had been more respect to give up his common life for her's. 😊

When this video feature says "there is No Precedent...", it simply means that granting Royal Titles to commoner husbands of women royals has no "legal tradition" being followed, that no royal decrees patent had allowed it in recent history. What happened to Anthony Armstrong Jones was Exceptional owing to the fact that he married a granddaughter, daughter and sister of 3 successive monarchs, making her proximity to the throne veritably credible, and therefore would be unfair for their future children to be sort of ostracized if left with no titles just because their dad was a commoner. That's why Elizabeth II made the EXCEPTION by offering the couple a Noble (NOT Royal) Title, Earl & Countess Snowdon. In fact, Tony Snowdon NEVER had HRH before his official name, which further solidifies the point that indeed there Is NO precedent in that category. (Their children however are still addressed with Lord and Lady to this day.)

Earl is not a ROYAL title I believe. I believe it was from the beginning a title for someone working for a King/Queen. In Scandinavia/old nors language Jarl. They was probably chosen from Nobel families. In Scandinavia it does not exist any more. I'm not sure it uses in UK thou Prince Edward is also a Earl? Maybe in Scotland and It's means like before work in order of/instead of The King. But Edward is still a Prince. Princess Margaret's husband was not.

Your video is 👎 please stick to the children of the siblings of a reigning king, not to persons who married a Royal. Normally if a man without a title marries a princess their children do not automatically get a royal title. Only if a current King or Queen wants to give a title. Like Queen Elizabeth II who wanted to give the children of Princess Anne a title but she refused. In the Netherlands for example only the wife of the King, Queen Máxima has a title: Queen Consort. The wives of all other princes have a title by courtesy of the King. The are adressed as Your Royal Highness or Your Highness because they are married to a Prince. If a Princess marries a commoner he can never use the HRH title.

Queen Consort is not a title, but a description. A Queen is HM the Queen, whether Regnant or Consort.
