LUXURY MOTOR YACHT AFRICAN QUEEN is a stunning 80-foot (24.48m) motor yacht custom built by Northern Marine Co. in 2007. She was previously named JULIANNE. Her exterior was designed by Stuart Archer and her interior by Ardeo Design. AFRICAN QUEEN is able to cruise at a speed of 10 knots and run at a max speed of 12. She can welcome up to four guests in two guest staterooms. She carries up to three crewmembers.

It is a good design considering what is incorporated in that small hull. Really it is a classical fishing trawler hull with a high bow and a low rear working platform. When static it is levelled but when running it shows a slightly nose down attitude due to the low pressure zone around and under the bows beyond the upside down hump of the bow curve which acts as an inverted airfoil leading edge. It only digs its bows by about six inches but it loses its majesty a little. It is an excellent design otherwise.

The design of the yacht with somewhat limited deck space compared to more modern yachts and the voice over in the presentation date this vessel to the late 1800's. Northrop & Johnson did well to let David change the way they present vessels nowadays, this effort is cringeworthy..

Northern Marine went out of business in 2014 after one of their 85' yachts sunk when it was first launched.

@cornskid 1. I didn't understand what do you mean "subject to electrolysis". 2. I think black steel is wrong as hull material because it needs painting and antibacterial layer. Modern painting is oil checimal material that you eat with sea foods an drink with water and rains. 3. The same is with the carbon fiber - it based on oil checimals. 4. All this contradicts with sustainable development goals.

@cornskid Just read about polymers dangers. Fiberglass is a fabric material embedded in resin. If it would be made from cotton fabric and pine resin - no question. But it made from oil chemicals, both fabric and resin. It is catastrophe! Our world is full of plastic.

Yes, because of transcription errors one was one properly ballasted and it did roll over on launch, but that was the first boat under new management.
