LUXURY REGRETS... I wasted $$$

So what would you do with your luxury shopping time machine? I would buy a classic flap 8 years ago 😅
A few specific expensive pieces I regret wasting money on (and I mean 'wasted' only because I didn't get the wear and joy out of them I expected):
1. Stuart Weitzman boots (multiple pairs...) 💔
2. Manolo Blahnik Maysli pump
3. A stiff frilly Zimmerman dress that probably can't even fit anymore...
One lesson I'm trying to take forward - Just because I like something does not mean I need a dozen versions of it. I bought 4-5 frilly silk Saloni dresses because I loved the style. Yes, I wore them all, but not often enough to justify the quantity. One or two would have been plenty. Now they hang unworn in my closet. I doubt they even fit...

when i started my lux journey i had to be real with myself, it was either option 1-bags or option 2-shoes & clothes as I couldn't afford both options. i chose bags because I fluctuate with my weight and where I live it rains a lot and those shoes would get ruined. i do regret not buying another chanel 19 in black and the 22 bag when they 1st came out. now prices are things I need to think more about and not having a job right now I cant. so by the time I can again, they'll be even more.

Totallyyyy agree with EVERY one of your points!! 💯💯 I didn’t realize I could buy these things either until I was in my 30s. 😅 like you mentioned, I’m glad I bought the classic canvas bags first like Alma and Speedy. The one classic I haven’t bought yet is the Noe and I want to get that one this year in Azur.

I agree completely about about not buying more bags before the price increases. I also completely understand about the Mini Peekaboo. I have two, one I got from Fendi, it's dark brown and very similar to your red one and then the other is in the nappa leather version that you were talking about, I got that on Vestiare for a great price and it's like new. I would recommend a second-hand websites for peekaboos, they come up all the time, usually in a great condition.❤

You know I love a good double (or triple) up! I have some regrets that were influenced and passed through my collection quickly but at a loss. Not sure I have a bag that got away that I could have afforded at the time. I would love a peekaboo at some point and that giant Jodie in dark purple 💜

I only regret my Chloé small, Woody tote because I don’t love it enough for its price point and the leather strap feels very cheap. I tend to regret passing on bags I wish I’d bought but as you say, the money was spent elsewhere. I’ve never doubled up on luxury because I think I’ll always gravitate to the original. I am very tempted to get another Gucci horsebit bag, different colour and hardware, as I think there’s enough of a change for me to use with other clothes but it’s about $1,200 AUD more than what I originally paid. I did regret not buying the Chanel classic flap but now I don’t mind because it’s too much money to have dangling on my arm in the street.

I find it hard to justify buying another of the same style when it's gone up in price from the original I bought. Somehow the SpeedyB hasn't changed, so that might still happen. I completely understand your feelings on Chanel! I've never taken it into the city.

I’m personally happy that I started buying these bags later in life. I had everything I aspired for and it’s so much money that who knows, maybe it would had slowed down what I was really working for. Yes I ultimately ended up paying more for my bags, but my real assets worth way more than them. I love duplicates, well I pick an other color but if I love the bag, I’ll go for an other one. My very few regrets were about selling some bags. Now I don’t sell, I keep my bags, no more regrets! The guitars behind you are cool. My son is an avid player so they caught my eyes!

That's a very good point. I didn't have the knowledge before to make the same choices, and I am happy with my collection. Starting a bit later allowed me time to learn about myself. And that's wonderful! We're a family of music lovers, and those belong to my husband.

A lot of us have made those spending mistakes…it’s a learning process. Now I know what is worth it for me…a lot of luxury is not…esp clothing…and even shoes. There are great quality alternatives to luxury clothing and shoes. I have two pairs of block heel Valentino sandals which are comfortable for a heel and they pretty much go with everything from jeans, shorts to dresses and skirts, but aside from that, I’ve sold any designer sandals I’ve had. Handbags are the best place to spend when it comes to designer items for me, but I’m also at a point where I have too many options. I think around 15-20 is my magic number…any more than that, and it feels excessive for my lifestyle.

I know you love your teen Jodies. Diamondandrust sells BV dupes that are so high quality that I can no longer justify buying BV from the boutique. The mini and teen Jodies are spot on with BV’s measurements, but their medium size is smaller than BV’s small jodie…still fits over the shoulder but less full. The leather quality is the same ….I mean I’ve bought BV before but lose when I’ve sold them so never again! I prefer Loewe for the versatility…if you love the jodie, you’ll love Loewe’s flamenco!
