Gravity Falls - short, hilarious adventure with lore, mysteries with ciphers and secret messages from the voice of the King and Hooty. The Legend of Voice Machina - ongoing action series, depending on how you guys and your audience deals with adult (pretty dirty, but mostly immature) humor and DnD. I, personally, love Critical Role and their campaigns. Best overall choice Gravity Falls. More unique for your channel and fresh would be The Legend of Vox Machina. p.s. Does anyone suggested to them Bojack Horseman? It's easily in the top 5 best tv series ever. In any genre. Heavy themes and amazing character study coexists with hilarious animal puns and spot-on satire (that was ahead of the time). But it will emotionally destroy you. Don't let first impression fool you.

Personally I think Legend of Vox Machina might be right up your alley, there's a lot of interesting psychology and character work there, once you get past the first 2 episodes. It is 18+ though, so very different to TOH.

My opinion of Camila's reaction was that she was overwhelmed with anxiety after finding out that Luz was not really there, that she starts to cry. I can't imagine finding out that my daughter is not down the street, not a few blocks away, not even at camp or school, but that she's in a different WORLD and I have NO way of getting there! I mean, I would LOSE it bad! I would be panicking, probably hyperventilating, because I would have no way of knowing that she's safe... Camila's reaction breaks my heart every freaking time because I feel her pain... It really gets into some of Luz's greatest insecurities, like her struggles with being accepted and her strained relationship with her mother. She's found close friends and even a girlfriend who loves her in the Demon Realm but she still has a mother who cares about her and wants her home in the Human Realm.

Yeah I absolutely SOBBED at the last part of this episode. The part with Camila will ALWAYS break my heart. I love her sm. In a way she reminds me of my own mother especially since we’re both poc. A LOT of ppl when this episode first aired called camila “a bad mother”. Which is just so insane to me. For what we know from this episode, Luz’s father is not in the picture. Its just her and Luz. Its obviously Camila loves luz a lot. Having your child choosing to live in a demon realm instead of at home with you is just such a heart shattering thing to learn. Especially since realistically “demons don’t exist”. Camila was doing the best she could as a single parent and every decision she made was in the best interest of Luz.

It's not such a problem now, but at the time when this episode came out, a part of the fandom treated Camilla *very* unfairly and called her a bad parent, and even compared her to Alador and Odalia which is... a choice. The show touches on some of her decisions in the future so I won't talk about that, but some people being genuinely mad at Camilla for being upset because she thinks Luz chose to live in a realm with demons and witches where she might not be safe is just sad. How can you possibly see the heartbreak on Camilla's face when she thinks Luz hates being with her and think she doesn't love Luz with all of her heart?

I honestly wonder if some of the context later on was added to address the “bad mother” sentiment. Like, sending Luz to a strict camp isn’t great but if you’re a single mom, your kid is releasing dangerous animals in school regularly, and you’ve already talked to her about it, what’s the next move? Probably trusting people who are ostensibly experts in teaching kids social awareness/skills.

I mean, just read about estranged parents where their kids have gone no contact, they all act like that and they’re all delusional, it very much reflects a real life thing where parents are delusional and controlling and brush everything their kid thinks off as bullshit compared to their idea of how they should be. It’s a massive red flag and you should absolutely be wary of people like that and that they’re likely abusive, exactly like the people you say they were compared to. Because people actually coming around and being reasonable like she does later in the show is not typically how it goes in real life, although I can see how if you had a fantastic life with fantastic parents you might want to wish all parents intrinsically will do the best for their kid and that caring isn’t just seeing them as a selfish extension of themselves.

Parents coming around might happen more often than we might think. We just don't hear about it. At least not in the news, in research or on social media because it's not an extreme. It is normal growth, like people do everyday. Unless it is extreme growth like someone bullying others and changing to make the world a better place for everybody, you won't really hear it anywhere. Families having conflicts happen regularly, because we're people. And listening, finding a middle ground or admitting to a wrong and learning about it is how people in a family (so also parents) solve most conflicts so they can peacefully live together. Many families aren't great and have great conflict, but I think the majority is actually fine.

33:30 - Oh, interesting! Montana, I think you just had the EXACT same mis-hearing/interpretation of this conversation as Luz (which we see in a later episode)! Camila says "promise me you'll stay" which is NOT the same as "promise me you'll never go back" or "I don't ever want to go visit with you". For comparison, suppose your partner lives in NY and you go to visit them, and they say "I want you to stay"...that DOESN'T mean "and never go back to visit your family in Iowa" or "and never go on a vacation" or whatever. Granted, Camila is probably pretty scared for her daughter being in this dangerous fantasy world, so possibly in the moment she kinda means that, and maybe that's what Luz is picking up on...but technically that's not what she says.

For people who aren't completely naive to narrative, as these guys clearly are not, the questions that people who have seen the show before ask can _themselves_ be extremely suggestive. Just watch his face as he reads out the question -- you can see the question itself trigger the revelation, exactly as often happens with those highly suggestive, jokey-hinty, "not really spoilers but..." comments that some people always must insist on leaving.

For the next reaction series I have got to say that Steven universe is the best show I have ever watched in my life. It is so amazing and while deep has a lot of funny moments as well with amazing characters and story and has a ton of content!!!!!❤
