Have a Lv 100 Mew in Pokemon Yellow / Blue / Red
This time you need to catch a Lv 1 Mew first!
================
Go to route 24 and stand in front of Jr. trainer where he will battle you if move forward.
Move forward AND Press Start to open menu IMMEDIATELY
Fly/teleport to Cerulean City.
Go to route 25 and battle with Youngster (He needs to walk up to you)
When you battle with the youngster, you need to lower his pokemon's attack 6 levels, which means use growl effectively six times.
Go to route 24, you will battle with Lv 1 Mew.
When you catched Mew, find a pokemon that will give less than 54 EXP and win the battle(Mew needs to appear in this battle to gain exprience). Then Mew will grow to Lv100!

My brother won a lvl 5 Mew in a pokemon tournament when i was 10 =D got it transferred onto a new pokemon yellow he bought (and got it upto the pokemon center) he gave it to me for christmas! i was the biggest boss in school after that.

@MessyPaint You can get mew by fighting another trainer with slowpoke I believe. The game uses the pokemon's name/number in a hex code, which is what makes the mew appear. There is an article online about it.

So the first time I tried I saw a lvl 1 mew but leech seed killed it before it would stay in a pokeball, now they are level 2 and 7. Do you only get one chance to catch it at level 1?

@goopersosis It definitely is. I'm not exactly sure how it works, but I'll explain what I know. The real glitch in all of this, is that you are able to fly (or teleport) away if you press the start button before a scroll-in battle. Even though you escaped, the game will think you are in battle. Because the gameboy did not have a lot of internal memory, different info is saved on the same location based on if you are in a fight or just walking. The slowpoke Spe stat trigger an encounter with Mew.

i did the jr trainer, then used my abra, then used growl 6 times on the swimmer's shellder in misty's gym, then i got a lv 100 mew. did it on pokemon blue and red

No. I just played the Pokémon red on Stadium, and I just got a mew lvl 1 - by using growl... Eitherway, by a mistake I ended up leveling up to lvl 100 when my intention was to just train it regularly. It's because the Ekans in the grass didn't give it enough exp (55 exp) so it ended up being a negative value. Eitherway, it is a glitch and it does work. I do not have a gameshark, and I live in Denmark so no tournament for me.

When mew is in the bank, attempting to withdraw him freezes the game. Is there a way around this, aside from keeping him in your party 24/7? ::Edit:: Disregard, leveling him up from level 1 before putting in the bank fixes the withdraw freeze.

Just do the Mew glitch (Any form. as long as you get a mew.) But instead of fighting to defeat your opponent, use Growl until it has no effect any more then defeat your opponent. Now, go fight Mew (who should be at lvl1) and catch him/her/it. Check Mews stats, put it first in your party then go into a battle, swap Mew for another Pokemon then defeat the other Pokemon. The exp will be shared and Mew will just become lvl100. I just saved you 10 mins of boredom.

Noteworthy: Make sure you have an open space so you can have mew in there. If he gets sent to Bill's PC your game will freeze when you try to withdraw him.

No, but most of it's naturally learned skills kind of suck. You can, however, teach it any TM or HM move. My Mew had Thunderbolt, Surf, Psychic, and Softboiled.

I did it differently. After you beat gut with slowpoke I teleport to cerulean then went to route 24-25 then menu popped up then I caught mew Lv.7.

well....yes it works! lol i did the get a lvl 100 pokmn and the mew glitch in 5 hrs 6 mins lol so it dont take very long. i caught gigglytuff?..i think evoled it to wigglytuff..trained it to lvl 19 to have a 25 speed (check its stats to c) and then went to i believe route 24.caught abra using wigglytuffs sing (needs to have 25 speed)(so that u can use sing before abra teleports) i actually just used a poke ball no sing but then started glitch..teleported... fought next trainer teleported.got mew

You're wrong. There is a glitch to catch Mew, I did it on my Gameboy Color with the Blue game, and it worked perfectly. Of course it is a glitch, but it still is the best way to catch it in my opinion, considering the fact that tournaments on gamerboy color don't happen nowadays

for blue and red its a completely different glitch and DOES NOT work the on yellow. this is the first im hearing of a mew glitch in yellow so i will have to check it out. but the level jump, thats true. a pokemon at level 1 is a glitch itself. level 2 is the lowest the game reads. mew has a ton of exp points but the game reads it as a negative number. if he gets more than 55 exp points he goes to level 2. less than 55 it reads negative but sky rockets the exp point sending him right to level 100

***** that's a lie, you can find as many mews as you wish, there are many trainers with who you can make this glich happen, so find another one, then use fly, or dig (if u are in a cave or tower) or teleportation or scape rope, then find a trainer, reapeat this until you get a mew, if the trainer doesn't make mew appear you can try with wild pokemon, the glich activates a pokemon appearence with the same special stat of the last saw pokemon, so wild pokemon works for it & they can make different pokemons to appear depending of his lvl, because a pidgey in lvl 18 has different special than a pidgey lvl 20.

Just caught Mew using this glitch on pokemon red. It DOES work, but It was sent to Bill's PC because I had 6 pokemon with me, and the game freezes everytime i try to withdraw him.. I'll have to restart the whole game again now to catch him :(

You could catch two Mew and then use one for your HMs and one for battle
