God does indeed bless people materially, the 2 main problems with the prosperity gospel are 1# it focuses on only the material blessings God gives and #2 it focuses on the blessings of God rather than God himself. People want big houses, nice cars, and a butt load of money but they do not want God himself. When the time of testing comes and the anti-Christ comes into the scene and forces everyone to take the mark Christians are not going to be living comfortable lives, at least not if they accept the mark. True Christians are going to be laying down their lives for the Lord and choosing to suffer and live in poverty for Him because they want Christ more than any worldly possessions.
