Damn, lov the true and honest conversation u guys had in this one, just to context, here in Brazil things are maybe worse than in that time, the difference is the mindset of the population, however, the real situation will take years to change into the ideal scenario for equality. Racionais is the scream of the forgotten ones in our country, i would love to see more reactions of our culture, much respect for this channel!

Actually some ppl here are mistaken. Sobrevindo no Inferno (Surviving in Hell - "hell" stands for Sao Paulo City Southside - outskirts of the city, poor areas) is Racionais most important album released in 1997. Back in 80 & 90s SP City ghettos were violent and Racionais helped create a mindset that black people must fight for their survivability. Their music & attitude changed ppl minds forever. When this album came out I was kid born in richer areas of SP and if you listened to Racionais you were compared as thug thief etc The album lyrical structure was kind of Bible thing and back there it wasnt a book yet. Nowadays it is and major subject in Brazilian SATs. A fuckin classic. I deeply recommend u guys listen it entirely. Mano Brown is living legend. The language & culture barrier sucks but to me Racionais is on same level as 2pac & Biggie.

Na verdade eles deram uma pausa não por conta do álbum em si, mas por causa que estava tendo muitos atritos com a polícia, e muitas brigas nos shows, tanto que o último show deles antes de parar foi aquele caso que jogaram um corpo no palco.

Hey there’s a documentary film about Racionais MC’s on Netflix called “Racionais: das ruas de São Paulo para o mundo”. It was made in 2022. There’s also a film about Emicida called “Emicida - AmarElo - É tudo pra ontem”, made in 2020 (and the concert of his tour - “Emicida: AmarElo - Ao vivo”).
