I drove past this school frequently on my motorbike for 9 years. I visited Laos last year and the people are still the same. A lot more buildings and people now and found the place I lived in for years was very difficult to pinpoint. I hope it doesn't change too much.

I was un eleve at Lycee de Viengtiane from 1969 to 1975. These are the days I enjoyed life the most as a human being. It was a sweet memory that will live with me for ever. Maybe one day when I retire I will return to my Lycee to relive that memory not as a student but a volunteer retiree teacher. God bless Lycee.

I am not Lao, but Hmong. I was born and grew up in LongCheng (Longtieng). I left Laos when I was only 10. But looking at these pictures I feel very sad. Thinking life back in Laos before the Communists. Life was so much better and peaceful. Not so corrupted like todays. Most of all, life is such short period of time. 43 years flew by like the wind. I am very happy to see this video. Thank you for sharing.

Open your eye and brain Mama: Laos nowadays is lot better than it once was in the 60s and 70s. Everywhere in Asia is corrupted ok but it's sure gained peace and prosperity slowly. Back then you Hmong wouldn't even dare to walk alone in Vientiane---you'll be chased, ran, and kicked if they knew you are Hmong. Now Hmong is gained access in some Lao government and can go anywhere without reprimand---lol except the cheap military sites.
I am soo happy to hear this song It reminds me the time was fly by . I am one of your time also Lycee de Vientiane . I am Chinese born in Vientiane . I still love my mother country and I still miss all those when I am a kid and school time there. Time flying so fast.......I already plan I will go back my country where I born and retired there. I love so much this song it means everything we are grow up. Laos country is belong to Lao 's people. The communist took Laos country back it is no thing wrong . They fight with French people come take over and control our country.
Regardez "youtube" : sombath sompnone

As a very young Hmong kid (5 years old in 1970), my brother who attended Lycee took a few of us to tour the lycee to encourage us to study. Bad war, we never got the chance to pursue our goals in Vientiane.
@YouBanNodone Жыл бұрын
Yes the war was present at that time, but the people who were lucky enough to have the baccalaureate were able to continue their studies elsewhere. But those who did not have the bac were also able to succeed in their lives elsewhere. Thank you to this school for preparing us for life.

Thank you Lin Chan for your testimony. Yes in 1970 we were in our country, Vientiane High School or Loui Tou. Vientiane is a cosmopolitan city where people from different backgrounds rub shoulders and live in harmony. We were at school and were happy with our friends, we live in our motherland with our dear families in happiness. Unfortunately in 1975 the tragic situation forced us to leave the house where we grew up, you in California and me in France. At that time it was not easy for anyone, but we had to work hard to get out of it. Even if we are far from Vientiane, this city is still in our hearts.

Respectueusement . Sith Dongdok
Thank you anyway YouBanNodone. The reason I am looking for that information, was because I went to the Lycee too for a shortime in 1967 as a son of a Diplomatic Corps officer. I was thinking maybe some information may link me back to somes student back then. We are about the same age, so maybe we did even met each other at the Lycee or party/concert at the "555" places.

This is how Laotian and Cambodian history is written. Over time, bellicose nations have always killed peaceful peoples. We can only be a spectator.

@@YouBanNodone you are so correct there uncle, the Lao and the Cambodian we have never had argument or war and are the most peaceful of people's, Cambodian and Lao has never had history of stealing land from anyone, Khmer king help Lao regained independent and our kingdom has always been friendly and mutual understanding to each other even our ordinary people's.
