To avoid fumes I freeze my water to make my lye solution. Make up the difference with liquid if needed.

To avoid the fumes from the lye, I use ice cubes as part of the watercount, up to 75% of the water.

Can you please tell me what oil can you substitute coconut oil with?

Any hard oil would be fine, but best put it though soapcalc to make sure the recipe stays the same. If its another butter or hard oil the amounts might change.

Its to help it release from the mold. I found without it the soap has a sticky feeling after 18 hours.

I've only ever used kosher food grade lye. Is there a huge difference between them??

As long as the lye says its suitable for soap making on the packet. Go with a trusted brand.

I have only ever used sea salts but I know someone that use table salt, but not 100% sure.

Heat transfer method? Yes, On my very first video and it worked fine. But I do prefer it all melted and prepared.

I leave the lye over night so its basically col water in the morning (not sure the exact temp) and the oils at about 90F. Not sure about soda ash. sorry :(

Sounds good. But its all trial and error. Run a few small tests and see what works best for you. Some soap hot, others room temp.
