I love that Lyle always wears a suit. He's as respectful of his audience as he is of his band. He just impresses me as a beautiful person.

And we are always look good if we can when we go before the Lord. " Come as you are." doesn't really mean clothes unless you just don't have nice clothes. Come as you are - a sinner who is wants to be saved!

I Wearing a suit is alwais impress neat ,tidy atmosphere. I think lyle lovett is the first person who fuse big band jazz into country music. He is so cool ! I think that he is too underrated. Evryone shoud notice his music's real worth.

I have pretty much all of Lyle Lovett’s recordings. I had heard of him and seen him him in a movie, so when he toured Australia I went to see him in Perth. We had a huge storm that night and there was quite a bit of hail damage and flooding. We had to walk from our hotel to the venue as taxis were not available. Kasey Chambers was the support act, and was on time, but Lyle and his small band were delayed and only just got to the venue in time to play. I have never been so mesmerised by a band as I was that night, and I have seen Zeppelin, the Stones et al. Incomparable musicianship, songs and an absolute mastery of their craft, in-dispersed with the most dry humour. I went home the next day and ordered the complete back catalogue. Come back to OZ Lyle!

Love this song. It['s fantastic. Daddy was a preacher and known for going long. Mom packed saltines in her bag for us. (I'm now 58) We didn't have Townhouse yet and Ritz were for rich people. We never saw him eat a raw dove but he did have a fly go into his mouth once. The choir saw it and it was hard for him to eat raisin pudding for some time. Thanks for posting! I'm grinning right now. :)

Lyle Lovett is a true treasure in the music business. Sad that most people don't get it. Mostly because they just don't listen. He's not everybody's cup of tea, but there is no denying his talent.

This is true and I am guilty. And I was in the front row dozens of time when he opened for a main act at Andersons Fair in the early 1980s. But I finally got it. Listen to the lyrics. His vocabulary is complicated. And a singing voice does not make it easier..

Love this song and love the man. I was just driving through town today listening to this CD. And when we were kids (now 68) my grandma kept "be quiet cookies" in her purse. We now eat them and they are known as windmill cookies. But they'll always be be quiet cookies to us.

LOVE THIS SONG! Really all the songs on this CD. I love the way he lets his voice and music be the show instead of being a "showman". That voice is way good enough!

Lyle's look is VERY endearing, Earthy and American! He's got a very graceful mix of homely and handsome qualities that only ADD to his performance. You know this guy is for real and knows about which he sings.

Man, I remember an old pastor from a church I use to attend as a kid gave an ending prayer well over 10 minutes. And this was after a sermon that was well over an hour. I dont mind spending some extra time in church. But that pastor was giving an Summary of his sermon in that sending out prayer.(In case we or God forgot what he just talked about 😂) It was a habbit that he had. Even my very conservative parents thought that he was weird for doing that. If your sermon(s) are constantly that long that you have a habbit of giving summaries in an ending prayer as if to remind God what you talked about, you need to trim the time just a bit. 😂
