Lyrics that touch the deepest part of one's soul and the acoustics are the icing on the cake. Great that I got to listen , thank you to the person that put this out.

Even people who detest country love Lyle Lovett's music. I am one of them! He is 100% talent, with no flash. He is my definition of cool.

Saw him do this live here in Dublin Ireland back in the 80's. Loved it then and it just get better with age.

Lyle's got some REAL country soul. You can not deny such a sincere and genuine feeling that comes across with his singing no matter what your pre-conceptions of country music may be. A true Texas hero.

This song has slowly but surely crept up my all-time favorites list, to where it now sits at the top. The song writing, the production, the dynamics, and the delivery are all executed to perfection, and yet it's anything but sterile. It's also amazing how Lyle has so many musicians on this tune and yet it sounds like a tight little combo. And Matt Rollings details on the piano are the icing on the cake. What a fantastic song!

My wife (fiancee) then saw him and his large band in Detroit's Fox Theater in the early 90"s. We have seen him 2X since. Always on Always great. The problem is he does not come to the Northeast often. :(

Genius Singer Songwriter --- his music will make ya get up dance, ** listen in the quiet to the lyrics ** sadness -------- His song She's No Lady She's My Wife -- want that played @ wedding!!! think it is great song, -- if the families really do get along. He is a marvel. Lyle Lovett, Tom Waits, Richard Thompson -- all favorites.

Awesome video. There is *nothing* like seeing Lyle perform. I watch him perform every year at the Mountain Winery in Saratoga. There is nothing better. I also found a great article on Fretbase about how he gets the sound he does. The post also included this video!

Lyle is an awesome lousiana, style musician. Back to the roots. He was married to Julia Roberts, and had Francine Reed (wild women) play as his back-up for a while. Take it to heart. If you love the music you'll understand it without any ????

I think you hit it on the head. He transcends country music too. Country, Soul, Folk, Rock, its a huge mix. But the cool thing is that it is his own style. You don't need labels if you have that.
